The spokesperson for the SEC, Sir Nicholas Saban, Jr., recently stated this:

quote:

“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.”

By saying this, Saban is expressing his love and admiration for all SEC teams and players and fans, except probably for LSU and its players and fans because they want Saban to die and hate him because he left them to coach Miami.

What a great leader the SEC has during these trying times. Leaders lead and strong men are strong when it counts, not when it's easy.

Saban feels like it is his responsibility to lead the SEC right now and to make hard decisions and that is exactly what he is doing.

He cares for all of us fans too. He doesn't want us to suffer and to have yet another joy in life taken from us.

Let's all pray for Saban, the whole board, and praise him for his strength and foresight at this time in our shared history.

God bless you, Nick Saban, you are bigger than just Alabama, you belong to all SEC fans, most of them anyway.

Saban was a pioneer in that department also. Before him, when a person got a job as a football coach, he never left that position during the rest of his working life.

It was an antiquated system that demanded that you only have one job in the coaching ranks.

Saban blew that old system apart and said to the nation that it was okay to have more than one job in coaching.

He didn't play by the rules and by doing that, he opened up a lot of opportunities for other coaches and assistants, etc... to move around and take other jobs if they wanted to.

The man is a trailblazer in more ways than one. Before Saban, the only way coaches could leave their current football related job, not matter what it was, was in a pine box.

Upon finally being lucky enough to get a job, coaches would say things like "the only way I'm leaving here is in a pine box".

I'm sure Saban stays up at night worrying about all the internet message board loser criticisms of him...

Yea, looking back now, it seems to appear to have been a poor choice.

It's a shame that he couldn't find success again after his return to college football.

Oh well, you live and learn....
