pretty much
I still don't see how recruits can't see through his bullshite after two years at alabama.

Let him continue to over sign. The word gets around and he'll wear out his welcome with HS coaches pretty fast. I think he's on a fast burn for another NC. Let's wait and see what the cost to the program will be.

This is not about education it's about Football. Recruit as many players as you can get and run off the dead wood in the summer months. Bama Football is King over Education. Nothing matters but FOOTBALL. Roll Tide!!!

everything is going to come crumbling down sooner or later with the "deadwood" mentality.

What you people fail to see is that he's not lying to anyone. These kids want to be tested against the best and see if they are good enough to compete for a job. They know coming in that nothing will be handed to them and the staff is going to find 25 hungry players next year too.

If that's the case they'd be at FL.

Not really, we are coming in to this season with 55 4* or higher players and by the 2010 season we will have around 65 4* or higher players on the 85 man roster.

Well, Florida doesn't have room for them ALL do they?
There are a lot of top rated, talented players out there. And everyone of them has the freedom to decide where they want to play college football. People always want to throw stones at Saban, but he's not standing up at the podium holding a gun the their head on NSD.

I do not think that is the mindset of an 18 year old. I think they want to compete for a starting spot and playing time, but I do not think they come in with the mindset of an NFL player that is trying out for a team in training camp with the possibility of being cut from the team and by extension the University as many of the kids cannot afford college on their own.
I also do not think it is exactly pointed out in recruiting that they are basically on a trial basis with the team and if somebody signs in the next year or two that may be better, they may have to try to go get an education elsewhere. I think the kids are completely oblivious to the fact that is how saban operates apparently. I think when a kids accepts a scholly from a 4 year university, he expects it to be for 4 years as long as he does not frick up (like not going to class, practice, or breaking the law) and gives his best effort. It is almost an implicit gaurantee. One that is one sided and not honored by dinky in this case. Of course, no one really expects much of dinky when it comes to either honor or integrity.

No, but I bet he is lying his arse off to them. Both directly when necessary and lying by omission also. Sure everyone does it, but Saban seems to be worse than any, especially the way he is forcing kids out.

You find me one kid that has transferred to play at another school and has not been completely complementary of their time under Saban and his staff, and we can begin to agree.
Until then, you’re just a whining rival fan, with a loser’s mentality.

So if the kid leaves early for the NFL, does that mean he lacks "honor and integrity"?
Shouldn't he have to fulfill his side of the “agreement” also?

Scholarships are one year contracts. They are renewable at the school's discretion. A kid may believe he is signing up for a four year guarantee, but he ought to read the paperwork first.

Auburn fans can rest easy knowing that they'll never have this problem since they can't find any kids willing to commit to their program.

The point being made is that no other top football school is running off players at such a high rate, that's all. Everyone knows that they are "one year contracts", but when you start breaking down the relationship between a team and a player to contract details, it just doesn't look good.
