I've heard a lot of things about Lane but I have never heard about him missing a meeting. From what I have been told, his work ethic was solid. Miserably hungover and pale as a ghost, but always there.

He's a 70-something dude that was really, really good for a while coaching football.
I'd still play him, $100 a match, at chess. Because he's not a genius. But he was really, really good at coaching football as long as he was in a position of authority.
When he starts riffing on ANYTHING other than coaching college football in a position of authority ? His opinion is no better than anyone else's.
Any board he sits on ? Just a check he cashes from star-struck rich people.. He's not "excellent" at anything other than coaching football from a position of authority over players who can't leave.

Because here is the truth…lane may not work out. History says it will end badly. But let’s say it does work out and LSU wins a NC or 2. Alabama will hire him and and we will laugh at you like your laughing at Ole Miss.

What coach Saban said wasn’t wrong. Do you really think that if Lane Kiffin had the opportunity to coach to win a national championship that that is not going to be his focus? LSU would have received the short end of that stick. Lane needs a national championship to get back to the NFL. Winning a championship at Ole Miss is more impressive than winning a championship at LSU. I think Ole Miss was stupid to not let him coach. I say this is someone who hopes Ole Miss loses every game they play except when they play Alabama.
