Bama fans are ungrateful, entitled and overall trash. It's so glaring, even Saban knows it. Shocker.
Most of them are OK enough. It's the ones who have nothing to do with the school or even the state who trash it up. Same for almost any fan base.

quote:Yep. It simply works off the supply/demand principle. If they don't come, sell the space to an entity that will come and PAY to come. If the demand decreases, reduce the supply.
Alabama is at least doing something about it. They're reducing seating capacity with the renovations, mostly from the student section.

Actually Nick, buying a ticket does entitle you to a seat. That's kind of the whole concept behind buying and selling things.

They are decreasing the stadium to 70k, so that's exactly what they are doing. Apparently they need to raise 600m to do it, too, fricking farce.

What a load of horseshite.
The fans pay $3,000 - $5,000 for season tickets, and that little bitch doesn't think that entitles them to some minimal entertainment?
Alabama's home slate is atrocious, with the only decent matchup coming in the very last game of the regular season. There is no reason in the world for Nick Saban to be scheduling the Citadel in his 12th year with the program. That's just downright shameful.
Hey, Little Nicky, if you want fans to watch the games, give them some games to watch.

When bama plays little sisters of the poor every week, who would want to go to their games?

It’s human nature.
The reason why you can have too much of a good thing is eventually it stops being good anymore. It’s just another thing you expect out of life, that you are entitled to.

This is both very true and very sad.

And Bama has a waiting list of non-students that do want to pay that much or more.

If he's worried about student attendance at football games, he's more than welcome to start coaching at my Alma mater, where attendance to home football games is mandatory.

Maybe we should move our game with you to y'all's house then!

When I first came here, they used to play that Tradition thing (video) up there and everybody was cheering and excited and happy and there was great spirit," Saban said. "Now, they don't even cheer. They introduce our players and nobody even cheers.
if Bama had yell boys, they wouldn't have this problem. Call us Ags what you will, but our boys keep the fans engaged not only during football games, but other campus and alumni events. When the crowd gets down, they pick us back up and keep the atmosphere humming.
but yea, muh cheerleaders and pom poms.

i believe he means entitled to success. the fans have a significant influence in the game, and fans cheering keeps the team honest and motivated. he's saying that his team are doing what it takes to guarantee success, and he wants fans to do the same.

Uh, no. I paid $635 per seat, including Tide Pride donation, and I don't even have the least expensive seats.
Besides, he was talking about the students, not season ticket holders.

I'm all for that. Let's start with a 9 game conference schedule. Problem is, in the last 3-4 years that Saban has suggested this move in SEC meetings, it is shot down like a bird on the opening day of dove season. We all know that non conference portions of the schedule get contracted 3-5 years in advance. Not a lot of wiggle room to schedule other Power 5 schools in that time frame and get in agreement for a particular weekend. For these neutral site games, UA accepts the invitation to play and then it is up to the committee for that particular game to find an opponent that would agree to the game. Some of the opponents like USC, Michigan, Clemson, FSU, Va Tech sound promising but they fail to live up to the ESPN hype.
Until we see some type of legislation passed requiring 9 conference games and the 3 remaining games MUST come from the other Power 5 or Group of 5 conferences, we will continue to see the same type of schedules made out year after year.

Here's what I have yet to see or heard pointed out:
Who is often Saban's intended audience in a press conference when it comes to these rants of his?
The players.
Saban wasn't the first to bring up the crowd. Players had already posted comments and photos on Twitter, as was mentioned in the article.
You don't think Saban has his finger on the pulse of his locker room at all times? If two players are quoted on al.com, you can bet that there were others who expressed the same thing in the locker room.
Sure, Saban himself was no doubt pissed, but this was more about him sticking up for his players than anything else. It's surprising that so many in the media haven't been able to figure that out.
