Saban will go down as one of the greatest college football coaches of all time. He retired because he is getting old. He retired when he was 71 or 72. He was getting tired of the grind that comes with being a head football coach. He has generational wealth. He could not possibly do more in college football than he already had. He enjoys being a broadcaster which does not really demand that much of his time. He wants college football to go back to the way it used to be just like the majority of the posters on this site.

He 100% saw that writing on the wall and ran. Credit him for knowing why he was successful and what his limitations were. He saved his legacy while giving the biggest poker tell in the world when he ran on the eve of NIL.

Like Saban said, Ms. Terry told him it was time to quit when the players moms started asking how much Bama was going to pay their son instead of asking her how she was going to take care of their sons.
