re: Rumors floating around... Is tomorrow "the day"? - Bama/NCAA

I remember many bama fans, even TI, being good bammers right up until the sanctions were announced by claiming they'd just get a slap on the wrist for the Means case. Don't forget that these current infractions happened during the repeat offender window. And don't forget this quote from last year about the NCAA infractions committee looking to get tough:
The prospective crackdown would subject offenders to:
• The first bans on TV appearances in Division I since 1996. The restriction would extend to "all modes of video transmission," including video streaming and other internet appearances.
• More scholarship cuts. Now limited to cases involving financial-aid violations, they would become "the norm" in all serious cases.
• Fines, which the committee would assess sparingly but across a wider array of sports. They currently affect only basketball and programs forced to return shares of NCAA tournament revenue.
• More bans on postseason appearances. Among other things, that would become a "presumptive" penalty in cases involving academic fraud and repeat violations.
Who knows what you'll get. It all depends on what mood the NC2A is in.

From this thread it seems like the majority of nonbama fans aren't predicting or hoping for some super harsh penalties...
but I'll bet $1000 that if it comes out that bama only loses 2 or so schollies that there are 10 different Bama posters talking shite about how everyone was against them and hoped they got the death penalty and blah blah blah

In this thread, yes. But go read Luke's thread for a change.
I think, I'll hold my breath for the last freaking time. For some reason I believe rumors coming from Alabama fans more than I do from Auburn fans. The latter are a bunch of flat out liars. Not that I trust rumors, but at least there is a hope in this case.

a great deal of auburn fans pray every night for something to happen to bama, because they know they cannot compete at even strength.
its really pitiful.

If nothing happens to USC-West, then nothing should happen to Bama!!

Last time we were at even strength we beat your fricking arse silly and it wasn't even close. Last time we were at even strength you were our bitch and we were two fluke plays away from winning 8 in a row against you. Last time we were at even strength, we were the SEC team of the decade with 3 straight SEC titles (or shares of the title). Last time we were at even strength, we beat that arse 4 straight, 6/8, and very nearly 8 in a row.
Bottom line, last time we were at even strength for a decade, we were better, so frick off.

Don't be so harsh on them. They're in mourning of the Bears death.

Your shtick on here is growing old.
It's become down right pathetic. I thought you were better than that?

I find it quite humorous that it's a rarity for Alabama fans to ever bring up Coach Bryant... but you guys talk about him just about every single day. And you claim we're the ones living off a dead bear.

Not sure how you came about deciding both teams were "even strength" during this time. Maybe because it best fits your Agenda? Alabama had three different head coaches during the 80s and had NO stability, and similar to your most recent "streak" - your 6/8 wins during the time period of which you speak, happened on three different coaches watch. IMO, the 1990s were much more even - particularly within the Iron Bowl, and the fact that both schools went through a probationary period, and both experienced marked success on a national level.

That is not our fault you kept firing coaches because they could not beat us. Fact is Curry had a very good winning percentage and was 10-1 with AU his only loss and was forced out. So, your coaching instability is primarily due to us beating them.

Not really. AU received severe probation early in the 90's. If you want to say AU's dominance this decade is due to Bama's probation, the same can be said for Bama beating an AU team coming off probation in the mid to late 90's. And do not say AU's probation was weak. At the time they were some of the most severe sanctions ever.
Bottom line is 80's = last time both programs were not impaired by probation and it was not close as to who had the better decade.

i know. i've mentioned this before. it's like they're STILL that mad about him beating their asses for so long that they feel the need to consciously make fun of him... i'm 27 and i never saw the bear coach a single game.
WHO is living off a dead Bear? Us? or them???

oh, and in response to this thread.
i wonder how all of the Alabama fans on TD are gonna react to whatever punishment.
we all probably can deal with 2-3 scholarship losses because we've all deep down accepted them as gone anyway. but what if they punish us more than that?
do y'all think the Bama fans on TD will show their asses and gripe gripe gripe?

But ....
quote:WTF? Of course they will - you guys always gripe about how the NCAA hates you (well a lot of you guys do anyway) - that would only add fuel to the fire.

FWIW - I don't think it will be bad, nor do I think it should be bad.

Exactly. They don't see me on Elephantcrap.com commenting about them because I don't go to their sites. Yet they come on the SEC Rant under the heading of TIGERDROPPINGS.COM to comment about what we say about them and blah, blah, blah. Before we had the SEC Rant on here, they were all over the Rant as well.
They have the nerve to comment about me talking about the Bear. They need to start with all those fans of theirs that wear houndstooth everything at their games.

trust me. if it was just you, they wouldn't be laughing at the "dead bear" jokes you cracked. and as far as the houndstooth pattern, it's just a part of our culture over here. get over it.
