He went 7-20 in the PAC 12 his first 3 years. He's 19-8 in the PAC 12 the last 3 seasons. Before he got there Wazzu went 4-32 the previous 5 seasons.
At Texas Tech and Wazzu he wins 8-10 games every single season one he got his system set up. Every single season. That's impressive as shite.
Now, is his ceiling at Tennessee higher than that or is he going to be that same record wise coach? That we don't know and I'm not sure if it can really be predicted until we see it. Vols are also going to have to patient, because he had some real stinkers at Wazzu early on.

Mike Leach took Texas Tech to #2 in the nation in 2008. Something tells me Volnation would approve of such a result.

Ok,he did an above average job a WSU (not Mike Price level)but pretty good.
He's had experience in the SEC and vs the SEC (OM beat em by 2 TD'S in the Cotton and could have been FAR worse) and his UK teams put up numbers although a very short lived success.
Not saying he's a bad coach at all and at this point might by UT's best option BUT the adoration and praise heeped on this guy far exceeds his abilities and record
IMO.
