The reason why Saban left the NFL is the same reason I don't think he goes back.
He didn't have total control. He wanted Brees in Miami, the front office said no and gave him Dante Culpepper. At LSU and Bama he has enjoyed a lot more freedom to call the shots, especially given the amount of success he's had.

Saban is a total egomaniac and a money whore. he has no loyal to alabama. I know it hurts to tell you all this but it is true.

Also, remember this. He didn't leave Alabama to go to the NFL he left LSU. HE knew when he left LSU that he could always come back to college football but Alabama is not just any college job, it's Alabama. There are 100 LSU's out there he could have come back to but not 100 Alabama's.
Just remember that when you start to forget that we are Alabama.

LSU is a premier college football school. It doesn't get much, if any, better than them. They've shown that they can compete with anyone in the country time after time.

If it was a job like the Steelers, Giants, 49ers, Packers, I would be worried but it's the fricking Browns. They might be the worst franchise in the NFL. Their franchise has made the playoffs twice and has three winning seasons since 1990. Even some of the worst franchises in the NFL like the Cardinals, Lions, and Bengals have all fared better than that. Why would he leave Bama for the armpit for the NFL?

Actually, there is only one Louisiana State University.

LSU is a good college football program. It is a very good program actually. But to say that they are as big of a brand as Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Michigan, etc. is pushing it.

Yeah, I would put LSU's program in the Tennessee/ Penn State (before the Sandusky issues) level. Top program with lots of tradition and success but a level below the blue bloods of CFB.

I'm not suggesting Saban takes the Browns job, I'm actually saying theres a 10% chance (and that's generous). BUT if he indeed took the job, I think people might want to rethink his prospects as an NFL Head Coach. Pete Carroll was not very good at all in his first go around, I think he had a sub-500 record and is doing some great things in the pacific northwest. I'd say both situations/coaches are similar, and I'd even go as far to say I would expect Saban to be better.

Actually, the past decade LSU HAS emerged as big a brand as those other teams. Look at the money they bring in and what Forbes said the brand is worth currently. Actually, article came out this past summer discussing that very subject. 15 years ago you would have been currect. Currently not so much. Maybe you call us newer money (historically I would still disagree) but even as a brand yes we have arrived.
LSU is a KING now
