Character flaws exacerbated by the razor thin margin for error made it difficult to navigate his way through the adversity. Remember that all these big coaches have frick you money now. Easy to see how someone could slip into that “I don’t need this shite” mindset. It’s all over from there.

Some facts about slavery in Louisiana get ignored because it breaks some of the stereotypes. The OG Louisiana slave owners were Creoles of both the white and dark varieties. There were also a fair amount of non African slaves in the early days. Islanders and such imported from Caribbean operations.

I’ve got a family tree full of slave owners. Two of them directly involved in some pretty well known historical events tied to slavery in South Louisiana.
Wish I could tell you how this has made me fabulously wealthy today, 200 years later, but much to my dismay I’m just a middle class dude drawing a paycheck.
Wealth is gained/lost in single generations. Tell them to get a fricking job and remind them what century it is.
