Saban to the Browns is not that far fetched. Bama fans need to realize he has no loyalty to anybody. He chases good opportunities and more important $$$. The Browns front office will be in a lot better shape than the Dolphins. He has connections to the Browns under Belichick's staff. Saban wasn't a failure at the Dolphins. Took a horrible team 9-7 and almost made the playoffs. Second season was 6-10 because Daunte Culpepper was terrible. If they signed Drew Brees he would still be there and Bama would be with 2 less national championships.

This was basically what I've been thinking.

And I also thought to myself, "I bet his wife would rather be in Ohio than Alabama."

But I doubt he goes. He's doing too well at UA.

I just like all the certainty from the Bama posters which is their best way to hide their nerves.

He clearly wants to jump to Cleveland to draft some Alabama players, and coach his former running back Trent Richardson.

I kid.

I doubt he makes that jump. The Browns are terrible and a losing franchise. It will probably be a while until they're good again, and Saban isn't exactly a great NFL coach anyways. Staying at Alabama is the obvious choice, and one I fully expect him to make. But just for shits and giggles...how funny would it be if he did leave?

I wouldn't be surprised or upset at him if he gives the NFL another shot. I'm thankful for all he's done at Bama.

I'm surprised by how the Auburn posters are so outnumbered by LSU posters in this thread. Wonder why?

1) bama fans flame LSU to no end, so LSU fans respond like this

2) this site is offspring from tigerdroppings.com which is an LSU website

3) LSU fans outnumber everyone on this board

4) Nick Saban is more relevant to LSU than he is to Auburn

saban has proved he is once again the best college coach and i think he would want to make up for his failure in the nfl by returning.

Saban needs to move on so Mullen can assume this title.

Well he's in his mid sixties, he has total control of a well oiled machine, and he turned down "better jobs" this offseason.

Any coach "could" leave...but there wouldn't be a more illogical decision for a coach to leave than for saban to leave. He tried the NFL, he disliked the NFL. He obviously loves everything the college game entails. Total control, recruiting, dominating, etc.

I decided the first time I tried canteloupe that I enjoyed watermelon more...so why would I ever go to the produce section now and pick up a canteloupe with a stack of watermelons next to it.

Any coach can leave, this is a free country, but Nick Saban isn't going anywhere but Lake Burton.

Well he lied in miami! Ok, what's your point? So he lied to the media while he was still employed by the miami dolphins in the middle of football season, every coach in the country would do the same thing. That's pretty shitty logic to use as to why he would leave alabama to coach a perrenial doormat

correct

As they are the ones saying the fans in here are scared and want him to leave, its just the same for them, they are scared if he were to leave.

He chases good opportunities and more important $$$

Although the browns make about in profits what Bama makes, they are worth as a program 10x's what bama is worth and have an owner who would put up the cash and have an easier process to get him the cash as oppossed to at a school

quote:

He has connections to the Browns

Those connections died when the browns franchise left for balitmore. This is not the same franchise

quote:

Saban wasn't a failure at the Dolphins
and it wasnt all his fault in miami

The other side is Saban can control who he gets for players at bama, he has much less control in an nfl organization. I dont think he has that many years left until retirement, the only thing that would get him to leave, would be a pro job and lots of dough, that will carry him through retirement

So let me get this straight, Bama has planted seeds within the UT admin and coaching staffs to destroy the program, and UT has planted one of it's own in Cleveland to lure away Lord Saban from Bama. Sounds about right.

Also at Mich. St., and LSU. 2 is a coincidence, 3 is a pattern. All LSU fans are saying is that a move to the NFL is definitely within Saban's wheelhouse and comfort zone. He is comfortable lying to fan bases and to owners/AD's about his intentions.

And he's got it better at alabama than any of those places. The difference between his job now and his job then is that back then there was the lure of the unknown. He had never been a head coach in the NFL..he's tried that. If he wanted to make the jump, it would have happened already.

Men nearing the end of their careers don't just change jobs on a whim like you're all hoping for

Sometimes your family plays a role. Ask Kiffin.

I'm sure he'd take Cleveland over Tampa Bay for these reasons alone.

nearing the end???? He's 61. Could coach Bama for 3 more years, do 5-6 in the NFL and then come back to coach some small college, maybe Kent St???

you placed your thoughts on retirement on Saban. I wouldn't do that. Cause you'll end up wrong.

No one knows but I don't see the big problem with speculation, esp when some folks on this board have had experience with him leaving places
