The committee is in an impossible spot in my opinion. I don't see them leaving out LSU on the off chance they win. They have already stated a week one loss is not the same to them as a week 12 loss so they can and will discount the loss to FSU. They are then left to decide who gets in out of Georgia, Ohio State, TCU and Tennessee. If I'm guessing Tennessee gets left out and that creates a shite show that while deserved is just unavoidable.

UGA got a mulligan last year and proved themselves worthy by winning out. Would they get a second shot again if they lose the SEC championship again?

You sir are on the right track.

There could be a 1 loss Conference Champion coming from the the Big 12 or Pac 12. The thought that a 1 loss non champion SEC team should automatically go before a 1 loss P5 conference championship is far from unanimous across the CFP committee.

I don’t agree with it, but times they are a changing people.

I agree with this.

I don’t think the SEC gets two in this year if OSU/Mich is a close game and/or USC runs the table.

So they’re going to let in a team that got curbstomped by Tennessee 4 weeks ago but not the team that embarrassed that same Tennessee team last week. Sounds intelligent.

The committee won’t see it as “letting”them in. They would have earned their way by beating the committee’s #1 seeded team in the first week of the postseason.

Exactly. Both would get in as they beat the undisputed best team

Whelp, I guess UGA will just have to make it easy for everyone and beat LSU.

Shouldn’t be a problem for the CFP’s #1 seeded team.

The playoff selection isn't very hard. People try to make it complicated, but here are the categories who get in. There's decisions within those categories, but here's the pecking order.

1. Undefeated teams from P5
2. 1-loss P5 champions.
3. 12-1 P5 teams without conference championships.
4. Undefeated G5 teams with big wins (think Cincy last year).
5. 11-1 P5 teams without conference championships
6. 11-2 P5 conference champions

That's it. It's that simple. yeah, they might have to decide between 1-loss conference champions, but it's teams in the same category.

UT fans need to remember that other 1-loss conference champions not only won a conference... they'll also have a better record since they'll play one more game (12-1 instead of 11-1). And even if their category gets to put a team in... it won't be just them. THey could have to get picked ahead of an 11-1 Michigan.

The reality is UGA will likely be ahead of a 2-loss LSU in the pecking order even if LSU wins the title... due to the fact UGA will be 12-1 and LSU would be 11-2 in that scenario. The SEC might get no teams in if LSU wins.
