So what would this do, SEC teams like to offer anyone and everyone.

Do schools get permission to hire salesmen and pay them millions to go out and recruit 24/7/365. So when it comes time to trim the list to the commits you want you have a clear idea?

Edit: I did not read the thing. I jacked it from another board with it titled as so.

Whats the point of an early signing period? These kids flip flop more than fish out of water. Does an early signing period favor teams like Vandy?

It is quite obvious you are new to the football thing. Best to lurk for a while and learn. Go ask questions on the Mizzou board to speed up the learning process. Good luck cooter

As others have mentioned, it would just be an early signing period. Like hoops, or even with the JUCO players.

It would be good for kids that know where they want to go and I suppose help weed out who is really committed and who isn't.

I think they should be allowed to sign at any point after their JR year.

You might be onto something there.

I'm an advocate of the early signing period but think it should be in August. What sense does December make? I understand it will save those kids that sign from the madness that is January but most kids that would sign then are early entries anyway. August would make the kids be firm in their decisions and hold the schools accountable to the kids they accept commitments from and quit shuffling them out at the end.

But it also could really screw a kid if he signs an LOI in August and then the team has a horrible season and the coach gets canned. Now the kid is stuck playing for a coaching staff he had no intention of playing for.

On top of that, what if a kid was a pocket passer QB and the new coaching staff implemented a spread? Now they are stuck with a scholly for a kid that does not fit their system.

I think if they are going to do an early signing period, it should be after the regular season so the kids (and the schools) have an idea of if a staff will be back or not.

There would have to be certain outs for both the kids and school. Coaching changes for the kids and legal problems for the school.
