I tried to tell LSU folks USC is a much better job than LSU. LSU runs a state. USC runs a region and can cherry pick the nation.

His contract at USC is something else... I mean, damn. He doesn't even have to buy a house with all that money

If what I read was true, no one but Saban turns down that job.

"Can cherry pick the nation". Which explains their outstanding record the past decade or so. In the weakest Power 5 conference. And you mite check out LSU's roster the past 4-5 yrs. We have players from all over the country.

LR did that on his on. This is the exact same thing as the baseball search. Everyone knows LSU is a top tier job and uses the rumors of being "offered" to get more money out of other programs.

Woodward never spoke to Reily, he used Reily to smokescreen his intentions.

Riley made of played LSU fans on the coach board but it's pretty obvious that he did not play the LSU administration. You can't go from being totally caught off guard by Riley going to USC to having a deal with Kelly less than 2 days later.

I think LSU should feel ok about this. As an OU fan, Riley did a good job as HC, and him leaving will probably have long lasting negative impacts on our program, but the fact is he was handed the keys to a pretty well oiled machine within the Big 12. 2 years as an OC he was 11-2 twice, the exact same results as each year he was HC. The program overall was not in any better shape than when he took over and you could argue it’s in worse shape. More talented roster by quite a wide margin but results on the field are the same or worse. Development wasn’t taking place at most positions. Of the NFL guys OU produced (almost 100% on offense) since 2015 almost all big impact guys were recruited when Stoops was still HC. Does anyone actually believe if Stoops hadn’t handed Lincoln the keys and had just kept him as OC the results between 2017-present would have been any different? I don’t think so. They would have beat up on the Big 12 and been outmatched in the trenches and on Defense as a whole in the playoffs.

How did he play LSU when he was never in contention?
