I wish lets just say i attended Ark texass games in the old SWC. And during that entire time the M. Brown years were the only sustained national relevance thay had. Sure they had a few flash in the pan years but even with Brown Ark went to Austin and embarrassed them so his success wasnt that sustained either and he only won like two conf. Champ. During his time 1 mnc

Because Tennessee was some great basketball power before he got there, right? He runs a consistently good program and had them in the elite 8. 95% of schools would kill for that.

I’m not standing up for Texas but this isn’t really true for the last 25 years, most coaches that have won a title did so within 5 years or so of going to the new school. Urban, Saban, jimbo, Chizik, etc
I don’t think NIL does anything but allow you to potentially win sooner, the transfer portal definitely helps win sooner.

we'll go decades without a mere Elite 8 appearance?
Barnes had them in the elite 8 in back to back years. This year he ran out of depth. Having 7 scholarship guys most of the year is tough enough, but to do it in the SEC, and then make the elite 8?
Add in the women’s basketball teams improbable run, the Football playoffs, the Baseball success. And it’s unlikely TU has the kind of overall success that UT is enjoying.

Kansas and Oklahoma have comparable populations to Arkansas and have seen much more success. Are you stupid

He's done the following In 9 full seasons - the first 2 of which were a total rebuild after the Tyndall disaster:
2x Elite 8 (2 in a row)
4x Sweet 16 (3 in a row)
7x Tournament Appearances
2x SEC Regular Season Champions
1x SEC Tournament Champions
2x 30+ win seasons
6x 25+ win seasons
232-107 (.682) W/L record
He's got his tournament blemishes without question, but overall he's done very well at a non traditional basketball school. I can't speak for the entire fan base, but I'm incredibly grateful that he decided to come to Tennessee. Pearl & Barnes have proven that Tennessee can win and recruit at a high level & regardless of whether he retires this year or in a few years from now - he's made the job significantly more attractive than when he found it. As a fan, that's really can you ask for.

Yeah, just stop. Texas basketball has advanced to the sweet 16 twice in the last two decades. You shouldn't be running smack. The reason people despise Texas athletics is because of people like you. Rick can't beat a higher seeded team to save his life, but his last 3 seasons at Tennessee have eclipsed the last two decades of Texas Basketball.

Barnes is the best men’s basketball coach we’ve ever had and it’s not close. We had 2 others worth a damn but Ray Mears had to retire early (mental health) and Bruce Pearl had to lie to the NCAA.
We went to back to back elite 8s with a 5 foot 9 PG that no one in all of D1 offered but Barnes. That’s the opposite of underachieving, especially since this was supposed to be a rebuilding year. .

Arkansas high school football to be nice needs support from the communities like Greenwood at a young age.
High school basketball is really good in Arkansas.

One UT knows how to use technology
One UT knows how to still shine
Both are great skills but only one will rule the new college sports landscape.

Nah Beavis we are the new silicon valley and when China invades Taiwan TSMC will relocate to Texas. I hope this helps your limited world view.

It’s a lack of something but population has nothing to do w it. See Oklahoma and Alabama.
Arkansas was good in SWC but has sucked for 30 years since they moved to SEC. Major reason is they lost their pipeline to Texas.
And I’d bet Jerry Jones is nosing around and somehow f-ing things up, too.

We had a baseball coach for multiple decades, pierce for almost a decade, Brown for over a decade, Barnes for over a decade.
Every other coach that has been fired was never even going to have us competing for a championship let alone win one. So idk what you are bullshitting about.
if Chris Beard’s incident wasn’t a thing he’d still be here and only second coach since Barnes. Also, Sark is the 3rd coach since Brown.

The one with the first wireless campus and a partnership with the world’s fastest supercomputer, a space institute, UT Battelle (that’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory) and a connection to the atom bomb wins the tech war.
We can still shine too.
