Probably because there are too many Dallas (Big D) homers in here who haven't driven around Memorial villages in Houston.

I'm glad you posted that link to the 2020 updated list. Piney Point Village, Hunters Creek Village, Bunker Hill Village-- these are old money but also plenty of new money.

President Bush (senior) lived there, for a good reason. But apparently most here don't know it.

I'm so sorry you had to potentially sacrifice your life like that. Drive up Lakeland Drive (into Flowood). It's literally not more that 3 miles from where you stayed.

Flowood , like Brandon, have cops everywhere. 1000000000 times safer than Jackson, although so is Pearl which is where you stayed.

I hate staying in towns like Pearl though. It looks like every other city I go to. I like staying downtown if I can, I was in Columbus last month and they had a few restaurants open downtown

Those who know do.

In all fairness, it’s usually the younger/early-20s demographic who assume, by default, “Highland Park.”

This place in the Houston Villages went for a cool $21+ million a few weeks back (end of October):

No way the wealthiest town per capita for Arkansas isn’t Goshen.

I'd have to agree with this.

Household income doesn't determine what the wealthiest city is though... As has already been pointed out HP is full of millionaires and billionaires that will never have to work a day in their life and have all their money tied up in investments... And yes there are people in Hunters Creek Village that this goes for as well.

Have you ever been to the memorial villages or the park cities? Do you know anybody who has lived in either one? It is quite common knowledge that Highland Park is the richest place in Texas. The memorial villages aren't even the richest place in HOUSTON! That would be River Oaks. And with Dallas being a richer city than Houston...

The oldest and richest old money in the south have, in many cases, moved away due to crime or other factors. They go to places like Beverly Hills, Upper East Side Manhatten, and yes, Highland Park.

The memorial villages are great, don't get me wrong, but it has nothing on Highland Park. Few places in the US do.

I'm not a Dallas homer. I live in San Antonio, but I do have friends that went to Highland Park, Memorial, Stratford, and Westlake. Highland Park is absolutely the richest. George W. Bush lives in Preston Hollow, which is right nearby and up there with Highland Park, but it is not zoned to good schools and it's not a city but a neighborhood. Ted Cruz and Joel Olsteen (sp?) live in River Oaks, Houston, which is wealthier than the memorial villages.

River Oaks is the closest thing to Highland Park in Houston, but sadly it is not its own city.

If we're just going buy home prices are 3 houses in Highland Park that are more expensive than the most expensive one in HCV

You’re incorrect; the data is public record.
But all is good.

This thread isn’t about neighborhoods, it’s about cities—which is why River Oaks in Houston hasn’t been mentioned.

For the record, I graduated from Memorial HS in Houston as well (Go Mustangs)!
It’s likely I may know some of your friends.

I’m not going by home prices—that would be an endless thread.
I just threw out the one I did because it’s popped up on several of my real estate feeds of late.

I’m not sure why you’re knighting so hard for Highland Park; it’s undoubtedly a wealthy area.
No one has claimed otherwise.

Not white knighting for anybody, but everybody knows the answer is Highland Park. Looking at median income is a dumb way of looking at it. If you want to say what city has the highest median income and only that then sure, the answer might not be HP. If that is all the OP is considering then you may be right.

When it comes to overall wealth though, that is different.

edit: I'm sure this has been discussed in the OT before

That’s the point—“everyone” assumes it.
