It was actually 751 yards. My bad on the exaggeration. Your problem, and the problem with most people like you, is that you just look at stats and nothing else. Richardson has quite a bit of talent. He didn't really play at all against Virginia Tech and was the #2 back behind Mark Ingram who gobbled up 66% of the carries in 2009. Despite that, Richardson came close to the 800 yard mark.

@Irons puppet: Thx that proves my point that your coach doesnt have faith him to be that great of a back and earn yards until the defense is worn down and he can just follow his blocks.

I will admit that I cheer for Auburn when they don't play LSU, any enemy of Saban is a friend of mine.

He had enough faith in him to give him the ball three time on the last drive of the BCSCG. I think he came thru too.

He will be in the Heisman Trophy conversation again. If he didn't get banged up this year he would have been a favorite all year.

No. Not unless he improves and developes as a back.

Here is the deal with Richardson. He is a physical freak with outrageous power and great speed. He is however not a complete or great back to date. He runs in a straight line and does not make people miss often. He is not great at cut backs or vision. His whole life he has been a straight line runner that runs over everyone and has break away speed. In the SEC though, you have to be able to make cuts and make people miss, not just run over people. No doubt he is a very good back. He will just not put up the heisman type numbers, even as the feature back unless he can improve in the areas mentioned.

@Yes after their defense was already worn down which fits right in with your initial approach on how your coach likes to use him and my greater ovrer all point. So no need to roll your eyes when we both agree.

lulz

Obviously then, Saban has no faith in TR.

After Ingram came back he didn't have more than 12 carries in any game.

Hell, half the time he didn't even break double digits in carries.

um. McCalleb had 800 and Dyer had 1100 sharing a backfield with a Heisman winner.

Teams keying on Cam and the O-line had a lot to do with Dyer and McCalleb's yards, IMHO. All a good RB needs is a step and the Cam threat was, certainly, worth a step or two.

Jesus Christ there are a bunch of dumb asses in this thread. Just keep thinking TR isn't that good, that way we can weed out the real morons.

Never said he wasn't good.

But it seems every bama fan think he has somehow earned the right to be called the best back in America when he hasn't done shite in his career to earn that.

He'll be a junior next year...... and so far, he hasn't had one single 1,000 yd season.

Comparing him to the greats in the SEC seems a bit of a reach right now....

And the problem with people like you is that you refuse to see the stats in front of you. All I heard for two years was that Richardson was better than Ingram despite the fact that an 80% Ingram was getting more carries than Richardson when Ingram wasn't even needed to win games.

Just to be clear, I think TR is a beast and scary back.

I just do not believe he will put up heisman type numbers or be in the conversation unless his style of running evolves to where he makes more guys miss, not just tries to run over whoever is in front of him.

Here is your ANSWER.
Eddie Lacy played in less games, had the same number of TD's and had 1/2 the touches, but averaged nearly the same number of ypg. I believe he will get 120-150 touches this season. He will also pass on your arse and run a wildcat like he did in high school. Lacy will have about 1000 yards with Richardson getting about 1200-1300.
Bama will run the ball with force no doubt.

Name G Rush Yds Y/G Avg Lng TD
Mark Ingram 11 158 847 77.0 5.4 54 13
Trent Richardson 11 112 681 61.9 6.1 65 6
Eddie Lacy 7 56 401 57.3 7.2 62 6

If you can't tell that he is one of the best backs in college football, then you are a dumb arse, plain and simple.

So you don't think he will be one of the best next year? You are in denial if you think otherwise.

Your coach didn't think he was the best back on your team.

WTF does that tell you, Einstein?

He has the talent to be but nothing he has done to this point minus a handful of runs say that he is there yet.

I wish it wasn't true, but TR is the best RB in the conference.
