Resuming in person classes

I may be late to the game (apologies if so) but I heard Alabama and LSU are planning on resuming in person classes? I did a quick search and saw where this is true for Alabama but I didn’t find anything on LSU.
Has anyone else heard of any of our conference schools planning on resuming in person classes?
The decision for Ole Miss has been moved to June I believe.

LSU will allow limited returning to campus for Faculty that have significant research grants/programs going. This will start 15 May. From what I gathered it seems if that goes well, more and more Faculty and Instructors and PhD students will be allowed back.
LSU has already committed to having classes Remote this Summer. But the plan now is to have hybrid model in the fall, classes of say 50 will be put in rooms of 150 to space people out. Mass type lecture classes of 100 or more will defacto be remote/online given the inability to social distance in the classroom with class sizes that large.
That is the plan as I know it as of 29 April, 7:00 PM

It is the only way sports come back. 0 chance sports come back without in person classes.

I like that plan to use the big classrooms to allow for small classes that can space out but on campus living and the buses that take the students to class is still very communal so I don’t know about how that works from a safety perspective unless they limit that as well.

I coach and teach in Georgia, all Summer/Fall sports have been delayed until at least the end of July including team practices. We have been instructed to prepare more extended learning lesson plans for the Fall. I can assure you that it is very much a possibility

That’s interesting—and good info.
I’m an Associate Professor at a large university in Texas, and all faculty were notified today that one-half of our spring parking is being reimbursed (no comment), with no option to purchase summer spots.
I’m still not allowed into my on-campus laboratory, nor have I been given a date when I can return (thankfully I only have two grants, and both can be conducted in the field/off-campus).
Looks like everyone is very much operating on a day-to-day basis.

Ask yourself something, if they limit class sizes to around 50 does allowing 70k fans into a stadium make sense in that equation?

4 year universities will all resume in person classes this fall unless they want to go broke.
No student who knows basic math will pay 4 year school tuition without the 4 year school experience for online classes they can pay a fraction of the price for from a juco.

That isn’t an option for students who’ve already hit their limit of JUCO courses, nor for graduate students.

No one knows. All schools are making plans for both scenarios. It is hard to imagine fully packed 200 person lecture halls or even small 30 person classrooms filled to the max on the fall.

But many have not. Let’s say 1/2.
That would be a major financial issue for a 4 year school.

They are all angling for an additional bailout from the feds. All schools are gonna take a huge hit this fall.

No it doesn’t. I just don’t see any way to do sports right now. I don’t see how it makes sense given the dorms, frat / sorority houses, large apartment complexes, buses, policing big parties off campus that will have close contact makes sense.
Note: For the college students on this board I am so sorry this is happening to you right now when you should be having some of the best times of your life which for me was college. It truly hurts my heart for you.

University of Alabama System president Finis St. John recently stated that they are planning on in person classes at all three system campuses in the Fall.

The state of Georgia has said nothing about suspending sports thru July.
