Saban absolutely loved Houston Nutt 
Still remembering him just piling praise on him before we played Arkansas in 2007 at Nick at Noon. Even more hilarious because Nutt was basically the polar opposite of Saban - big get up for the big game guy, then lose to Southern Miss or someone the next week. Totally opposite.

Fran shut Saban out 31-0 in BR giving Saban the most dominating defeat of his career. Then Fran went off on Saban after the game.

Wasn't it the made up message board story about something Saban said in the locker room after they beat Kentucky? Something about Alabama having the audacity to call themselves best in the west while on probation?
It of course never actually happened.

So, you are saying he was wrong about THAT one. How often is he wrong though?

There was a fake email/message board post floating around that week about Saban calling Alabama a bunch of cheaters and how they were gonna make us pay for trying to claim an SEC West title. Total fabrication and bullshite but that didn’t stop Fran from chewing Saban out and acting all tough.
Fran tanked the Auburn game a week later so a lot of people think the whole thing was just for show….kind of like another coach who tried to act tough after a game before bailing to another school.

I have no idea why he did it, but I've always thought that story was funny because it's bulletin board material working on a coach.

The thinking was Nutt was the best X and O’s coach but had inferior talent. He would do went in NIL

Nutt had some teams with some extremely high talent. He just could not for the life of him get them to play anywhere near the same level each week.
You did not want to be an elite team and see his bunch on the schedule, though.

What exactly happened to Nutt at Ole Miss. Did the Coach O probations sink him in the end?
