The Hoover Met is not anywhere close to the Galleria parking deck. THM was in a nice safe secluded area where anyone driving around was going to the game.

The new field is fluffy "We did something for Birmingham" crap. A waste of money when we already had a really nice stadium.

How many years before the average fan is priced out of going to a Baron's game? How much is parking going to be down in B'ham? $3.50 a car?

The Met is nestled in a fricking subdivision... Terrible location as for you have nothing within walking distance nor any public transportation that goes near the park.. i think its a win for Bham and the Barons belong I'm Birmingham.

Not feeling it.

Hate to say, but the Big XII had a better venue.

And the area around there was perfect with hotels, bars, etc all walking distance.

It looks good although I wish they didn't go the cheap route with only 8,000 capacity. I really like the location too. Close to Good People Brewing, UAB, and Children's Hospital. If Montgomery can have a successful downtown stadium then Birmingham sure as heck can too. Hopefully there's room for future expansion.

Children's hospital has already committed to assist with parking. There is also a shite load of street parking with space for an additional parking lot if necessary. The met was awfully dull and in awful location. The Birmingham Barrons had no business playing in Hoover.

Amen to that.. Hoover was a temporary home... The Barons belong in the bham city limits not Trace Crossings!

Regions Park was built for a Minor League Baseball team and while I don't follow Baseball at all, Im pretty sure that a MLB field you have listed

I'm happy they pulled the park off and think its going to e a really nice compliment to the Entertainment District in drawing people downtown. I saw pics a few months back of a plan to have a Jerry's Dome type screen as a part of a roof top deck

The Westin Hotel is also going to pay off big and I see SEC Media Days moving there despite the Renovations being done to the Wynfrey. The media have bitched about Hoover for the past couple of years and I think they will appreciate the change of venue

I wish they would have invested in Rickwood Field. Oldest baseball stadium in the country and its going to eventually fall apart.

Yep, I can see media days moving back downtown soon to.. Whats up with the Uptown Entertainment district? Is it open? I rode past it awhile back and was disappointed at the the size like a block and kinda plain design.. However the rooftop bar thing is gonna be awesome if it isnt used for advertising 24/7

Just stayed at the Westin last weekend. My mom does not let me and my girlfriend sleep in the same bed so mostly get a room when I visit home.

A lot of coming soon signs. Its way past time. It will be nice. When everything is finished they are supposed to petition for open container laws. Hopefully law enforcement will kind of ID young kids like they do on Beale St in Memphis. That way it will stay Nice.

I live in New Orlesns where crime is 10x worse.

New Orleans has an astoundingly high murder rate, but Birmingham's violent crime index has been nearly double that of New Orleans in the last few years.

According to the FBI, Birmingham was the 7th most violent city in the nation in 2012. New Orleans wasn't even in the top 25.

You can massage numbers to make them say whatever you want Nobody who has been to both places would tell you New Orleans is safer. There is a whole different caliber of criminal in New Orleans.
Memphis and New Orleans are on another level compared to any other southeastern city.

I bet if you looked at the murder count in the entire bham metro area (1 million plus) it would not exceed the murders in Orleans parish.. Heck Jefferson Parish probably has more murders than bham does
