... what is your current opinion of Coach Oeaux? Is he still the sub-par shrimp boat captain, or is he proving himself to be a top-notch coach?

He's doing a fantastic job. He has his team competing with the best and in the national title hunt, you can't really ask for more..

If he continues to bring in strong recruiting classes there's no telling what he can accomplish.

Big fan of your coach

Has done a good job learning to delegate. Not sure how much he does day to day outside of crooting.

My opinion of Orgeron as a head coach can't be given without the result of next week's game. IMHO it will tell us a lot about exactly how far he has come. It's a little bit like asking "before you see this girl, do you think she's pretty?"

There are some things we can know regardless of that game's outcome, though. For example, he has definitely improved remarkably as a head coach since the Ole Miss days.

He has proved his own fan base wrong. The man knows what he's doing down there, he lets his coaches do their job and he learned to evolve with the times. Good on CEO.

To be honest, I have to give him a lot of credit. He isn’t stuck in a singular philosophy and is willing to adapt. He also understands his shortcomings and is able to find people that can make up for it and gives them the freedom to do their job. That sounds easy but there are a lot of coaches that are so prideful that refuse to adapt and/or admit they don't know it all.

Love him. I’m a huge fan of real people. Coach O makes no pretenses for what he is. And he’s been pretty successful so far. I loved Les. Dude sounded like he was chewing every word he spoke. And the eccentrics.....omg. Time will tell if O is a great coach. It’s too early yet

There's one coach CEO just faced last Saturday that can't humble himself enough to let a true OC come in and change and offense that hasn't been consistently effective for years. Instead, his stubborn arse took over as the OC and doubled down in himself.

True but if you do that well enough, at O’s level, then you’re in it every year

Coach "O" is the best thing to happen to LSU since Saban, and believe he has already proved himself to be one of the best coaches

He finally hired decent coordinators on both sides of the ball. Doesn't take a top notch coach to do that.

An average coach, but very good recruiter, whose job was saved by an excellent hire at the offensive coordinator position.

Coach O is as good of a coach as we could have ever have gotten. And yep, I'd still take him over Herman or Jimbo.

It looks like he knows how to recruit top-notch assistants too, which is a quality that a lot of head coaches apparently lack. Saban is known for the great assistants he has hired over the years, which is actually one of the main reasons he has been successful over the years.

He has surpassed expectations...LSU fans should be excited, hopeful and optimistic.
