Spring football is impossible and will never happen.
It’s offered to appease the fans of some kind of hope.
Will never happen, it is indeed more dangerous than the virus to have spring football.

The BIG 10 won't have football in the spring either. It's just their way of minimizing the news by stating "postponed" rather than "cancelled". I guarantee that once we get closer to the spring that they'll end up cancelling that as well.

The Spring in Big 10 country is completely different than the Spring in SEC country weather wise. Kan. K State, Iowa, Iowa State,Neb. etc in March???

Neither conference may have any real intention of playing in the spring. It's probably a smokescreen.

They don't intend to play football this spring. It was just a cover to ease the blow to their fans.

It is also a way to try and prevent people for asking for their season ticket money back

They have spring football practice every year. Why is it suicide to play real games then ?

A hypothetical spring season would basically be the freshman and sophomores who anticipate staying 4 seasons from the get go

Maybe there's a difference in 3 weeks of Spring practice which is heavy on x and o teaching and technique, vs 3 months of full contact drills and games?

NFL teams play 16 games in 4 months and Super Bowl teams play 19 games in 5 months with a 53 man roster.
Why couldn't college teams play 24 games in 9 months with 105 players?
The problem with playing in the Spring is the potential for injury prior to the April draft.

March Madness
College Baseball
Major League Baseball
College Softball
depending on when you start a spring season whether it be late Feb. or sometime in March/April you would be in direct competition with those sports
plus as it has been repeated several times most seniors would probably elect to sit out

Also, how are going to play a season during the NFL draft? How does that work once a player is drafted? Do all the drafted players quit mid-spring?
How do you go from a spring season to summer workouts to fall camp to a fall season without a break.
None of this works!!!

End of March is about the time snow starts melting in those states.
Even if you had only 8 games and 0 bye weeks, that's 2 months. What about a camp before the games also? They'll be out there in the snow. Might have a 2 month season of games, plus 1 month of camp. So let's figure a 3 month minimum season.
Start it before March, and you're starting it in the middle of flu season and the coldest months. So March seems to be the earliest, maybe April. Best case is March. Add 3 months and you are at the end of June, July if it starts in April.
Then they have 1 month off and have to start another season. Or they are forced to screw up another season, start in like October to give the players a small break.
No summer conditioning for incoming freshman, many will head to the NFL on better teams, etc.
Just really highlights these people are not making these decisions and announcements based on facts.

So, you're going to totally disregard players that finished their last year of college football, then immediately played an 18 game USFL season after which a couple of them were picked up by NFL teams after the USFL season to play their 3rd consecutive season without an off-season?
How many of those players died?
