How the hell does that make one bit of sense?

Michigan is literally on the practice field right now.

The @UMichFootball team is currently holding a practice.

"We are practicing at this time," a team spokesperson confirmed. "We are allowed to hold voluntary practices, meetings and strength and conditioning for 20 hours per week."

Wait a relevant CFB ESPN employee is talking about how there should be CFB? I was told ESPN, a sports channel that's only programming is sports, wanted it cancelled.

There’s a reason for it.

It can’t be discussed on this board anymore.

And now all the B1G ADs are making it clear their kids will still have fall workouts and drill work for up to 20 hours.............

So the health danger is literally just the 3 hours on the field during a game - not during practice, weight work, eating together, etc? How the hell does that make one bit of sense?

I think the risk on the field are not the problem, anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms are not going to be on the field. I think the risk is players on campus sneaking out going to the bars to check out the ladies, listening to music, etc getting it there.

Does anyone expect SEC campuses the size of LSU, TENN, Alabama, FLorida, UGA, Texas A&M, all I think 30,000 plus, that these college kids are not going to get together and go out to the local pubs and "social distance" hmmmmmm, I know young men today maybe aren't as alpha as they were when I grew up but hormones are still what they are.

And those kids at B1G schools, with no threat of missing actually game action, will be even more likely to do those things..........and then still get back to together with everyone for workouts and lifts, leading to as much of if not more of the same problems.

It's just silly.

This is effectively a amateurism vs pro debate.
If that's the case, why haven't all high school sports been canceled? I'll tell you why, because unlike in college, waivers were sent home to the parents and the season will continue.

This is a liability issue and nothing more.

They "discovered" nothing.

Myocarditis is just the tool they used to justify the cancellation.

I agree, HS football I don't know the differences. One thing I think is the money is not involved. HS football is the last pure amateur sport. High school football is not a billion dollar industry. And if someone gets COVID-19 in HS vs. College, there is no HS football coach making 10 million dollars like Saban, Dabo, etc. College football is a 4 Billion dollar industry by some estimates. Players take the risk, the Universites and coaches make the money.

HS football is pure amateur, nobody is making tons of money off HS football. If someone God forbid dies from Covid-19 playing HS football, I guess they can sue the local school board but how much can they get, where are the deep pockets? who are making money off High School athletes.

And to me, just me, that is the problem college football is in. It uses the veil (i.e. Form) of amateurism like HS football but in substance is a big business like the NFL.

And that is the problem College ball has, in my view.

Thanks Summer. Like I said, there is no more loyal 1)Alabama and 2) SEC football fan here than you. However, you do understand the pros and cons of not playing or playing and the fundamental structural problems that CFB has. Pointing that out gets some people, not you, pissed off, but it doesn't change the facts that there are major structural problems in CFB and I think post COVI-19 things are going to be different.
