Spurrier was offered the head coaching job at Alabama in 2006 but turned it down, instead telling the Alabama Athletic Director to consider Nick Saban for the position.

Bama is a sub par program at best without the greatest coaches of all time. Coaches make or break Bama, not the other way around.

It won't surprise me at all to see Alabama make a play to Saban again with so much money it's hard for him to turn down.
It's much easier for the administration and the fans to think that they are one hire away vs. fixing the issues within the program that limit success for any coach that is not uniquely exceptional.
