Which is once again shitty.
5-5 and 4-6 are both firmly entrenched into shitshow territory. Auburn fans call it a shitshow yet Bama still call losing an anomaly.
Bless your heart

And there's roughly 125 years worth of data proving both of us correct.
Congrats!

So, you want to die on the hill that Bryant and Saban were not particularly impressive. It was all Alabama? Ok.

From my earlier post. You must have missed it. Too many words, not enough pictures.

From 1958 to 2023 Alabama had eight coaches. Two were great, two were good, four were bad. Despite that, every single one of them had a winning record at Alabama. Every single one had at least one 10 win season. Every single one posted the highest winning percentage of their career at Alabama.
Again.

They say repetition is the key to learning. So a third time.

Two were great
Glad I could clear this up for you.

And that plays into my points, does it not? That take those two great coaches out and Alabama is pretty much just like every other team in the conference. I get it. You can't just eliminate those two coaches. But you can't automatically assume some other coach would have any success at all.
Alabama fans talk out of both sides of their mouths. Y'all claim it's not the coaches it is Alabama, and Alabama will always win. We all heard this mantra when DeBoer was hired. Don't get me wrong...the school is still out on DeBoer. He might pop up and win a title before he is done. But the thought process I am pushing back on is that it is all Alabama and any coach can win there, because...well....Alabama is Alabama!
Y'all sound like the LSU fans who were telling us Kelly was going to deliver them to the promised land. That their last three coaches had won a title in their second year, so Kelly will too! Who knows? Maybe Kelly will win one soon. But, everybody tries to point to the past to predict the future.
ETA
Perfect example of what I am talking about:
Bama is the only program that has won a natty in every era except the 80’s.
So BAMA is bigger than any one coach. A good coach can win a natty at bama.

You're right, it does sound the same.

Bama was already one of the greatest programs in the history of CFB before Saban. Contrary to what LSU fans may believe, football did not start in the year 2000. Bama will be ok, they always sort it out eventually.

Yeah, this is the way to respond to an objective look at your history.
The point made here is brands are built by great coaches and you've had two of the greatest. Nothing being said here that you can't hire another in the future.

Bama was clearly dominant (not only vs. LSU but overall with Bryant and Saban at the helm).
So what you are saying is, it’s better for a program to hire a new coach every few years instead of having one with longevity. I mean, y’all fired your last NC coach. What does that say about your program if Kelly never wins one?

This attitude is nothing new. Years ago, when The Bear was approaching the end, I was talking to a bama fan pre game. When I asked him who would take The Bear's place, this is the same exact attitude: "It doesn't matter. We're Alabama". This is THE Bear.
Posted on 9/3/25 at 4:00 pm to paperwasp
Nothing about that is contradicting. Fact is Bear and Saban were the best ever and Bama had them both. Without the best, Bama is average.
I would not expect a Gump to understand this.

As Volatile stated, you got the Bear because UK truly doesn't give a shite about football. It's just something they endure as a lead up to basketball season.
Bear was an Alabama alum. Alabama got Bear because it was one of the best programs around. He could have gone to Arkansas after all but he did it, he went to Bama.
Bama has a long history of winning games and great coaches. It wasn't just Bear and Saban. Sure they had a down period and were on probation in the late 90s and early 2000s.
By comparison, LSU has a history of being a mediocre program.
Who has the most SEC championships? It's Alabama right? Were all of those under Bear and Saban? No they weren't.
Get out with this shite.
In addition, it's a little bit early to throw dirt on the grave.
LSU still has a really good chance to lose to this shitty Alabama team. It's what they do - lose to Bama.

Even with Saban Alabama would have fallen off. They could no longer have a bench full of 5 star players waiting their turn to play. NIL killed that and the transfer portal lets players leave and play for other teams and get paid! Bama can’t afford to pay them all so the pickings got slimmer. They will still have good teams just not dominate teams anymore!
