Better hire a strength and conditioning coach. Those ballerinas on the OL are pathetic.

impressive, but he took over a program that went 47-5 in the previous 4 seasons, with only one regular season loss (the other 4 came in the playoffs)

kudos to him for getting them over the hump, but he was a sustainer, not a builder - and again, that was at a level where scholarships were minimal and financial “support” from boosters practically nonexistent, a far cry from where he is now

and he’s been “constantly moving up” every two years before now - you have no idea whether he can keep improving - or even maintaining - success at this level, because he’s never done it

He’s good coach. Perfect for Alabama.

I think he's a good coach but not elite. His teams will out talent and out finesse you one week and then completely lie down the next. He seems to get them up for the big games but then they'll come out completely flat against a team they should dominate. Your defense improved over the course of the season but you will never have dominant defenses under Deboer like you had under Saban.

I think you are referring to Kiffin than DeBoer.

He was the OC for that team the previous 4 years.

If you want to go back 4 more years to 1996 when the same team won the NAIA DivII NC, he was a senior wide receiver for that team.

Harsin was OC at Boise during their great run under Petersen, and was their QB before that

i seem to recall you saying that didn’t matter (of course you were right in his case)

There is more parity than ever before in college football and I think he’s being benchmarked to those Saban seasons of going undefeated yearly or having one loss. That’s a really tough reality going forward. Obviously championships are the goal but even as an Oregon fan I basically just want a chance at playoffs yearly and then whatever happens happens.

No team will most likely ever have a Nick Saban type figure ever again. Just no chance a team will have 2-3 NFL starters as backups at every position lol.

I would tend to agree except, I hope this is not a chest beat for the SEC which is now a solid #2 behind B1G.

If that is a decline then most of the SEC teams would love a decline like that.

I hope that line of thinking keeps him at Bama for a while.

Really? You think the Sumralls, Drinkiwitz, Huepel’s, Golesh’s, Lebby’s, and Kiffin’s of the world are too much for him to handle? Riiiiiiiiiight.

He left a National Championship contending program to go to a team that he felt was a step up. I assume everyone will think he's the worst person in history, right?

I thought he was a great HC until he got to Bama. I think if Saban had retired a year later, DeBoer would have been exposed in a B1G schedule and Bama would have gone elsewhere.

I think DeBoer is a really good coach and he will continue to do well at Bama. But he will be gone within 2 years because he will never be good enough. Don't be the guy to follow the guy.

I've heard and I do believe that 9-3 is the new 10-2 with the way talent is dispersed throughout CFB.

I think Deboer has the potential to bring a nati to Bama at some point over the next 8 years. Y'all just have to realize that even expecting 1/3rd of what Saban did is unrealistic. I don't think there are any other coaches that Bama could feasibly get right now that are better.

Harsin took over Boise St and Boise St went into a decline. DeBoer took the team to a higher level and won the NC 3 out of 5 years.

Harsin made the annoying Boise St fans I was dealing with back then completely shut up. Boise St went from "BCS Buster" to nobody cares.

As a Bama fan I could care less who wins these meaningless bowls outside the CFP.

If the Texans win the Super Bowl this year and say defeat Philadelphia in doing so, does that mean the NFC conference is #2 to the AFC?

That current line has their coach beating LSU on the regular and making the playoffs...I am sure no Bama fan wants that.
