They lost 49-34 to a 10-2 Georgia Tech team, ranked in the top 15, who also beat UGA that year.

Happy?

So the amazing magic mullen got beat down by a much less talented team. Interesting for a Florida fan to acknowledge that, especially the same poster who ignored all my other points.

Mississippi State was number 1 in the country before losing to Bama, then they dropped the Egg Bowl. What was their motivation before playing Georgia Tech?

I’d ask the same thing about Georgia playing Texas, a team that beat UGA despite having far less talent.

What is so hard to comprehend about that comparison? Instead, UGA fans promptly post about how terrible that MSU team was that year, despite MSU beating a then ranked #8 LSU on the road, a #2 Auburn at home, and a #3 Texas A&M?

They played Bama tough in the 2nd half in Tuscaloosa, down 19-13 in the 4th Q before a long 7 minute Bama TD drive sealed the game.

I promptly expect UGA fans to now post how terrible that 2014 Bama team was...

I don’t think adding in these terribly wrong rankings makes your point any stronger. None of those teams were good in 2014.

"then ranked" is a farce. Does LSU get credit for beating a "top 10 miami" last season even though miami was trash?

All 3 teams you mentioned, while ranked top 10 at the time, all 3 finished 8-5. You are propping them up for beating teams that won EIGHT games. Just FYI uga went 8-5 in 2016 and we were garbage.

right, they lost to the the only great team they played. The next best team they played, a 9-win ole miss, they also lost to. So basically out their 12 regular season games they played 2 teams that could be called better than just "pretty good" and lost to both.

2014 MSU was a good team no doubt but they were never at any point the best team in america.

This is a strange pivot... One UF fan uses "ranked at the end of the season" as meaningful... I proceed to shite on any semblance of Mullen having success in that regard... And now UF Fan 2 decides let's look at ranked when we played them, regardless of whether they were any good at season's end...

They're persistently illogical at least...

So the answer to the OP was not as simple as some think?

We won’t find out anything tomorrow night unless UF loses.

If UF wins, it’s Miami sucked.
If UF barely wins, it’s UF is overrated.
If UF loses (there is absolutely no reason they should lose to this Miami team), UF is in trouble.

In fairness, it has been Florida fans who have been predicting a huge win. UFMatt, Straws and a couple of others. Y'all have set yourself up for the scenario you have just painted.

Gators win this one by double digits!

So it's choice A, Miami sucks, right?

I also think UF wins by double digits.

I also don't think Miami will be very good in game 1.

Just becuase you beat a team doesn't mean pointing out they aren't good is some kind of insult. We're going to beat vandy next weekend but there's no shame in saying that they suck.

These things are always interesting, and sometimes fun(?) to argue about....but thank goodness for the game tomorrow night!

As much as I dislike Florida I hate Miami, so I have to (maybe) pull for Florida tomorrow night. Anyway....I hope it's a good game and both teams come out of it injury free.

I hear what you are saying and somewhat agree but it might also mean that the winning team may be pretty good, you just don't usually hear that angle on tRant.

Nor should you be.

I think there is a good chance of that happening.

Yep, they do.

My post was not meant to call you out or say you were wrong...but to just point out that what xbo was saying was because you guys have been assuring us of a big win.

That said, if it is a big win you can rub it in everybody's faces. If it is a decent, but close win then you have all year to build on it and right the ship.

If something happens and you lose, hold on tight, because "As the Swamp Burns" will get another 20 pages.

'Nuff said. tRant. Don't pay attention to what people say on here. Most just want to troll and make other fan bases feel bad so they can laugh.
