that was thanks to Jim Turner, the O line coach

Well he'd be easy to hire now. Idiot got himself shitcanned from Texas State.

Actually our running game is extremely good. I honestly don’t think anyone can stop AChane if his line blocks well.

He’s gaining 8 yards a carry. There’s really no reason to pass if you can consistently do that.

Look back to the 2020 Florida game. This team is a lot like the 2020 team.

Talented line. Great running. Solid defense.
Control the game and score more points than the other guy. Boring football.

But it can win.

One dimensional would make me happy if we could excel at that dimension.

Love Smith he is the ultimate team player and is probably one of the worst guys you could lose if your A&M. Also believe you will see the emergence of Brown now as much as you can while the offense continues to grow. Even more important is Green at TE. If he continues to be a part of the rotation and shows the sure hands Jimbo stands a fighting chance of putting some resemblance of an offense on the field. If Achane can keep it going not as worried but thats a big if. The line has been inconsistent and really just boils down to that. Overall don't think the offense will be worse maybe about the same or actually get better as the young receivers grow throughout the season. Bottom line A&M defense needs to carry the load to give the offense time to get it going.

Can it really get much worse?

I’m truly amazed at even just the few fans they have that have prayed for so long to be relevant…..but it never happens

Good, logical question. There are other guys who can catch the ball. The most talented WRs are all young though. They will have to mature and step up quickly.

Smith was just the most clutch and the biggest team leader.

Exactly. Nebraska won tons of championships just running the ball down the other guys throat.

I would say A&M will run the ball until it stops working. And if AChane gets 4 yards a carry we will run it every down.

One thing sumlin did well was Oline. I feel like y’all had a first round pick from the oline 4 straight years.

They were all Mike Sherman recruits.

Mike Sherman recruited the frick out of the O-line.

That's pretty much all he was able to do.

I guess the next question is does Achane have the supporters?
He’s good for a long run once a game, but that’s one touchdown

You referring to RB depth? Need clarification

We’ll see if the other athletes at WR step up. Brown, Stewart, Marshall, Price, and Muhammad are capable but somewhat unproven.

Sumlin inherited a stellar oline when he arrived. I think 3 of them were drafted in 1st 2-3 rounds. But yes, I understand your point.

Last years offensive line and this years are worse than anything Sumlin every put out.

2 of Sumlin's inherited players went #2 overall. 2 more in the first round. And the center Patrick Lewis the center played a few years in the league.

I think Smith is obviously very versatile, but Stewart has more upside as a receiver if he can mature. He has special talent.

Smith is the only person at A&M other than Jimbo who understands his overly complex offense. For some reason, he can play every WR position and RB and not frick up but every other player on offense takes 4 years to learn the offense.

In summary, we are fricked.

Other weapons on the team are taller, faster, stronger, quicker, and shiftier…but none seem as reliable. Anias seems to make the fewest mistakes of anyone on the roster at a skill position. Shame he’s out.

That being said, problems on offensive line are far more glaring than Smiths presence or lack thereof
