So obviously Frank's was the worst Qb in the SEC last year.

He came in highly touted, but has no real experience. He's never been coached really. He got tossed in a fire, and had two insanely bad coaches with a bad offense coaching him.

So is Frank's to far gone?

Mullen has put good QB after good QB on the field. You could easily argue few had the raw talent Frank's has. So the question is.

This year Frank's will struggle still I'm sure this year, but do you guys think he becomes a good QB before his career is over at UF? There are very few coaches better at developing Qbs in the college game.

What's the rants thoughts(Yes I know Chip isn't coaching him)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mullen molds him into a good quarterback.

Mullen is a damn good QB coach and I bet he turns Franks into a serviceable QB by the end of this year. See what he did with Chris Relf at MSU.

That said, you'll wanna let Mullen recruit his own type of guy and develop him from day 1--a guy that fits his offense and type of play. You'll have to be patient, it may be 3 or 4 years before Mullen really has time to develop his own guy at UF. Mullen will turn your current QBs into decent players in the meantime, though.

ETA: A note on that development timeline. When Mullen got to MSU in 2009, our starting QB (Chris Relf--a 6'4" guy who I really think feels like Franks) was a rising 3rd year player. Mullen made him pretty serviceable in the offense until he got his own guy. Dak graduated HS in 2011. And then another 3 years before Dak was ready to play football. So that process took 5 years at MSU, but could maybe be as quick as 3 at UF if Mullen can find his guy in HS this year.

Fair enough. You don't think Emory Jones fits the mold? He is smaller so not sure if he does.

Mullen will design stuff that he can do well. He did it here at MSU with a LOT less talented Qbs than Franks

Isn’t Chip Kelly’s the head coach of the Gators?

I could see him becoming a serviceable SEC starter. One of those guys who is considered one of the QBs in the top half of the conference but probably not ever really mentioned in the top 3-4. Aside from not developing in Mac, I think it really wrecked his confidence and it will be hard for him to get over that mental hurdle when he’s facing good defenses. That’ll be the hardest job for Mullen.

Agree. Mullen is in his face every chance talking to him during the game and I'm sure that's the reason. He knows the kid is fragile after last year

Nope, I don't really think Emory will be that guy either. I think he's a bit too small-framed. You're gonna want a guy who is about 6'3" 230 and can add a ton of muscle to his frame. Mullen's offense needs the QB to be a physical run threat--a guy you actually have to tackle.

Yea. I wouldn't mind seeing him use a smaller guy but it doesn't fit what he has done for a long time. Wonder if he thinks he can do it with Jones. He traded a five star QB committed to UF specifically to get Jones. Which is a perplexing move if he isn't what Mullen wants in a QB

It was. Till he backed out. Already covered.

31 straight. How's it feel to suck that badly?
