Spent the last 6 years putting two sons through Alabama and now it's finally my turn. Too bad the GI bill expires. The benefits should be lifetime.I did my part.

1. 44
2. Alabama
3. UAB - Undergrad. & Graduate.. Alabama - continuing
4. Have two degrees (BA & MOE) from UAB and working on an Ed.S at Alabama

UAB had no football program when I was there originally. The majority supported Alabama for it was (and still is - but more so then) part of the University system.

As for "side-walk fans" - that is just a term created by imbeciles and immature posters who think they are better than others or who like to "rant". So what if you didn't attend the school?? Grow up. You're telling me you have no family members/friends who root for a school they did not attend? If you say no . . . you are a liar.

My son is an art major at a New York University (with no football/basketball) and loves Alabama sports - mainly due to his Dad's enthusiasm. He is at an outstanding school getting an opportunity that he will have not gotten elsewhere in the country - including any Southeastern school.

So, for those of you who don't like it . . . Frack you and your douchebag (and, dare I say "holier than though piece of shite") opinions.

That was basically my situation. I had certain academic opportunities and financial incentives elsewhere that I would have been foolish not to pursue. Otherwise, I no doubt would have gone to UF.

I always assumed sidewalk fans only consisted of people who didn't go to college altogether, at least for Alabama's sidewalk fans. My dad went to UAB and my mom went to Samford, both are great schools for their field, but I was raised an Alabama fan anyway

Mom went to Alabama for undergrad, UAB for her masters, and UMC for her doctorate. Dad went to Alabama, knocked mom up with yours truly, and finished at William Carey in 2010.

I saw the Grove for the first time in 2007 and knew I had to come to Ole Miss. Haven't regretted the decision.

There's an awful lot of PhD students on the SEC Rant. There's also an awful lot of people with graduate degrees.

Me thinks some people are lying

Well, I'm sure we could all get in an argument over quantitative vs. qualitative methods, researcher bias in ethnography, or discuss the merits of using ANOVA tests vs. multiple regression with dummy variables to demonstrate our bona fides, but I am pretty sure most posters eyes would start bleeding if the boredom didn't kill them first.
