They may have an argument as the best offensive team ever...but greatest ever teams don't have defenses that have given up the numbers that LSU's D has this year nor the number of close games they've played...
This is an ignorant statement. When you have the greatest offense in the history of CFB, the defense just has to play as well as needed to comfortably win games. A team that goes 15-0 against a schedule that includes six top 10 teams, scoring almost 50 points a game, multiple award winners on both sides of the ball, and coach of the year doesn't somehow get better by allowing opponents a few less points. It adds little to nothing to the resume.

Whether or not we agree on the definition of close, the GOAT would never give up 38 points to a 3-9 team.
Gave up 31 to Ole Miss this year
Gave up 31 to sorry Arky last year
Gave up 43 to Ole Miss in 2016 as well as another 30 to Arkansas.
You're dumb.
LSU defense is still top 30 in the country. Anyone who thinks this team wouldnt crush any other team on your list....I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I would also argue that Auburn played a harder schedule in 2010 as well.
You could argue that, but it wouldn't be a good one

2010 Auburn beat: #21 MS State, #20 South Carolina x2, #8 Arkansas, #11 LSU, #16 Alabama, #2 Oregon.
Assuming a national championship, 2019 LSU will have beaten: #3 Clemson, #4 Oklahoma, #5 Georgia, #9 Florida, #12 Auburn, and #13 Alabama.
To say that Auburn played a tougher schedule is pants on head retarded.

People can argue who is the best, but it wouldnt even be a conversation for the team with the best season of all time
Yep, if that holds true, that would be impressive indeed. Think there have been several teams that have beaten 4 top 10 teams ranked in the final poll...but I don't think a team has ever beaten 5 teams that finished in the top 10, much less 6...

And that's why I ranked 2019 LSU ahead of 2010 Auburn.

So do you or don't you argue Auburn played a tougher schedule in 2010?

2011 LSU would need a pick 6 and 2 punts returned to even have a chance
Posted on 12/30/19 at 4:32 pm to Tri City Tigers
So you're saying that if LSU wins in 2019, they're not as good as the LSU team that got blown out in 2011?

2. 2011 - LSU
3. 2012 - Alabama
4. 2019 - LSU
5. 2010 - Auburn
6. 2017 - Alabama
7. 2015 - Alabama
8. 2017 - Georgia
9. 2012 - Georgia
10. 2016- Alabama
I would probably put 2019 LSU at #1 whether they beat CU or not. They are that good.

agreed. also, and honest question...you’d put 2012 UGA over 2013 Auburn, even though AU was national runner up and 2012 UGA won the capital one bowl?

Hell no. That wasn't my list.

The last three games we’ve played would probably all be in our top 10 list of “all time arse kickings against non shitty teams.” Oklahoma would probably be #1.
Not sure if that list makes the media guide though

UGA lost the NC that year against Bama.

I still say the 92 Bama beat all of em to be honest that was probably the greatest defense to ever take the field

Lost to the Heisman winner, and beat a great Georgia team that year.
Well 2012 LSU beat the Heisman winner and almost beat Alabama. By that logic, 2012 LSU should be #4.

I thought it was a stupid logic and it was not my idea to use it.

Might be an unpopular take, but I think 2019 LSU is able to score enough to beat the very pedestrian offense they had in 2011.
I think Joe Burrow is the best QB the SEC has ever seen, and there have been some damn good SEC QB's the past decade.

No, they lost the SEC Championship.

Regardless of outcome, I think this LSU team beats 2011
