Swap OM and State and you got it. State has probably 50% of the State of MS, OM probably has 30% USM has 10% and Bama 10%.
We have a higher population of out of state students.

Fsu fans may not go to games but they don't switch back and forth. Well, not from team to team anyway.

Well I'd say the same of Arkansas because it actually one of my favorite campuses that I have visited.
I wish I had given it more thought since I'm from Memphis but in the end I would of more than likely still chosen Ole Miss (been grovin' since I was at least 2 years old)

2011 enrollments
Please don't use these, there are honestly UCF fans that think they're #1 in FL because of their enrollment.
For some of the folks on here these are the only numbers that matter, as sidewalk fans don't count.

That's only for Missouri-Columbia. Not the whole University of Missouri system.
ETA: They system includes Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri S&T(good school formally Missouri-Rolla)

There is a big difference in a whole fanbase, and only alumni. Sidewalk fans are one of the things that separate the elite schools from the rest.

you probably didnt even go to college

Any way you cut it, it is just a matter of time before Mizzou will be in the top half of the SEC in athletics. I'll predict 6 to 8 years and Mizzou is thought of as top 1/2 in SEC by college sports fans.

Huh. Yes in Academics but not overall sports or Athletic Dept.

I did, went to an SEC for undergrad and am currently going to another SEC school for grad.
I won't say which ones b/c I feel when you have a team logo by your avi people don't really care to look at what you post, rather just attack your school.
ETA: Finance/Economics double major.

Ranking the size of SEC fanbases, IMHO
1 Florida, yes they have to share their fans with other Florida schools. But Florida is such a populous state, and they are a national brand.
2 Alabama may be number one, but they do share fans with Auburn so I put them here. Their fan base does spill over into to other States, however.
3 LSU does not have to share fans in the State of Louisiana.
4 Georgia, GT does take a small bite.
5 Texas A&M, populous state but many Texas schools.
6 Kentucky owns the State, with the exception of Louisville.
7 Missouri, only relevant university in the state.
8 Tennessee, UT is still the flagship but not by near the margin they once were. They are in retreat.
9 Auburn, too bad Bama has so many titles.
10 Arkansas, only relevant university in the state.
11 South Carolina must share the bowl with Clemson
12 Ole Miss the flagship
13 Miss State has a good following despite the low ranking
14 Vanderbilt, low ranking but growing. Tremendous opportunity to sell its brand.
