My SIL's niece went to State and graduated with honors. She applied to Tennessee, LSU and State.
She was accepted to UT and LSU but not Miss State. She's at LSU now.
A very good friend of mine is one of the top Veterinary Surgeons in the country. Has written books that are used in most vet schools. He's a State grad.

USNWR doesn't evaluate quality of academics. It is just a numbers game of applicants, acceptance rates, how many people on staff, etc.
This is actually not true. There is definitely a statistical component to their method but they also conduct lots of survey work from academia and the professional ranks and that includes assessment of academic rigor and faculty quality.

Disagree. It's harder to get into vet school than med school.
South is lucky to have so many good vet training sites.

AU vet school was ranked #1 in teaching schools among their peers.

My opinion is that they are all good and I don’t see how you can realistically rank them. As some have mentioned, some are more specialized than others but if you are going to be a Vet Doctor, all the SEC vet schools are going to give you a quality education.

All vets in armed forces go through Army initially, though bases from all branches employ them. They pay for vet school with an additional stipend. You have to go through a type of officer training in San Antonio immediately afterwards, but a pretty good deal overall. Especially if you are interested in pathology as Walter Reed has a good program for that.

100% agree with this.

In the old days, AU vet school held places for Kentucky residents.
Kentucky funds 1/3 of the AU vet school. Kentucky gets 1/3 of the slots at in-state tuition rates.

My daughter is currently in pre-vet at Bama and as a junior researching Veterinary Schools in SE.
She really wants to go to GA since we live in ATL.
Her advisor told her Auburn is having credibility issues. There were people teaching classes without PHDs.

Most young girls don't get into vet school on their first try. Being a male or a minority or non-traditional helps a lot. If you are a standard 22 year old white girl, the standards are higher at all of them.
You dont have to agree or disagree.
Just be prepared for that.

To be quite honest. I rather just have someone with a DVM after their name teach me than with a PhD. Be taught by someone that has been out in the real world and teach me things that I can use than someone in an academic environment and has no idea that you can’t run every single test in the world to diagnose things.

Tell her to go to cheapest school she gets into. That is the best advice. If there is a specialty or person she wants to work with, she can always do a summer of 3rd/4th year externship.
