Does Mississippi have anything positive going for it? Seriously, scroll down almost any list and MS is what you find at the bottom.

We rank towards the top in parties, tailgating, co-eds. The 3 reasons why we rank low in academics.

UGA can act like they're all better and everything, but the only reason it's so hard to get into is because of the HOPE.

Thats true to a point. Same can be said for Florida.

UGA however is a very good school. Excellent business school and vet schools and I think journalism, though Mizzous journalism school is very well known for excellence.

The thing about the Hope scholarship in Georgia, is after freshman year, the pretenders are gone. Not many dumbasses (jackasses yes...dumbasses no.)
at Georgia. And for those admitted to the Terry School of Business, those kids are damn smart.

Disclaimer: My kid goes to Georgia..and is in the Terry School of business. Triple major, Finance, Spanish and Intl Business... 3.8 GPA. Only reason she isnt at Auburn is HOPE.

Damn. Triple major with finance being one of them is extremely impressive especially with that GPA. I never took it but finance classes are supposedly some of the toughest offered at UGA because the professors are notoriously difficult

I didn't get into UGA, but I think it had more to do with where I lived in GA than anything. They only take certain amounts from certain areas, my 3.75 and 1220 would have gotten me in if I were from bumblefrick. UGA takes tons of idiots from the middle of nowhere.

I believe our ranking is fitting, but the SEC is full of great institutions. Keep in mind that this is a ranking among SEC schools. State's academics are rising, while other school are making budget cuts like LSU.

Because he's paying 3 times what people from Alabama pay.

I'm not trying to say you are stupid or aTm is a bad school, but did you even read your own link? It's basically saying big schools near major metros are are a good place to find entry level drones for big corporations.

You also need to factor in the number of military and former military that originated from A&M. They don't just sit at home all day doing nothing when they retire from service.

I'm not sure I get what you are tying to say, to be honest. Again, I wasn't saying aTm is a bad school, just that the list presented was not really and indicator that it is a good one (which I think it is).

I don't know. We are from metro Atlanta Cobb county magnet school grad. Kid got into tech, Georgia , vandy, auburn. Chose uga because of broad academic base at the university plus hope. I couldn't afford Vanderbilt

I'd bet if you were to poll all of our students and former students, you'd find that we all put academics ahead of football.

I bet if we polled most of the folks here, it would be the exact opposite. More specifically, they'd likely trade a national championship for being at the end of the list of top academic institutions.

back in 2007 when i graduated hs, it was easier to get into bama and auburn than lsu. for whatever reason rankings never take that into consideration. i also believe lsu has higher hs gpas and act scores for entering fresh. than bama and au.... stats like that should matter, but they dont for whatever reason. in all honesty, vandy, uf, a&m and uga are all in one group, followed by all remaining non-mississippi schools, then msu and ole miss at the end.
