If we are counting the one season, then it’s either Burrow/Cam and then maybe Henry.
If we are counting career, it’s Herschel/Bo/Tebow in whichever order you want.

#1 overall was Barry Sanders.

Definitely can't argue with that one.

On a side note, I wonder how many weigh in on their post-trophy performance?

Bo Jackson is number 1 no question.

Why

Because of those stupid B-B-Bo knows commercials

He was even ruled a professional athlete by the NCAA.

Cam over Herschel but only because QB is a more important position.

1). Joe Burrow
**2). Johnny Manziel
Dc about the rest

** as much as I hate giving the faggies any kind of credit; i have to admit manziel was fun to watch.
Made it even better when I learned dude was a fricken drug addict too. Ballin’ out on the field and partying/enjoying his college years the right way like one’s supposed to.

Not when Herschel played. He should have won the Heisman all 3years and basically was the catalyst for the 1980 NC.

Can’t disagree with Barry Sanders being #1. My father graduated from Oklahoma St. so as a kid I kinda followed them some. I remember him as a sophomore being an all-American as a kick returner. He played behind Thurman Thomas who was a two time first team all-American, and Sanders was better. He averaged 5.7 ypc which is unreal until you see he averaged 7.6 his junior year. Dude was an absolute beast. Will we ever see someone like him again? Not saying no but it’s highly unlikely

Top 5

1. King Henry
2. Devonta Smith
3. Bryce Young
3b. Herschel Walker
5. Mark Ingram

Bottom 5

1. Bo Jackson (probably should be lower based on his professional status per the NCAA)
2. Can Newton (was even declared ineligible briefly by Auburn because of his “preacher” diddy shaking down Moo-State
3. Pat Sullivan (one of the more forgettable players in the history of the sport ((who cares))
4. Frank Sinkwich
5. And the worst Heisman Trophy winner in SEC history without a doubt is the criminal and convicted felon Billy Cannon. He should have his Heisman taken honestly.

Cam also ran for almost 1500 yards.

If going by the Hesiman season it has to be either Burrow or Cam. I would lean Cam just due to the fact he was surrounded by a good not great team

Agreed.

I think their evaluation was pretty well reasoned, even if I disagree with multiple ones. I'd keep the top 4 and add Henry at 5.

Bo is the best athlete I've ever seen. I did not recall his injury struggles in big games his Heisman year. I think he is still rated too low on the list, but if you're only looking at the trophy winning years, they have a good argument for their list.

Agre they’re fun to compare but the game changes so much it’s a hard comparison to make across that time period. The last ten yrs I’d go
Burrow
Derek Henry
Devontae Smith
Johnny M

But I still think Bo Jackson and Walker are the two best football players I’ve ever seen. Especially Bo Jackson

I’d think % of votes in their season is a good metric to at least begin the conversation since that talks about how far ahead of their peers they were. Then, did they elevate their team to an exceptionally high standard, beyond just “won championship.” Finally, was it primarily on them. 1. Burrow 2. Walker 3. Newton 4. Tebow 5. Bo

This is absolutely the list right here. We can argue about the order but BornamdRaised nailed the top 5 for sure.

That just tells you about the pool of Heisman prospects in a given year

Joe's numbers speak for themselves and he rocked the Heisman vote better than everybody else. I gave Walker the nod over Bo because he carried his offense on his back to a natty. Bo was so fast for a big man and his speed and acceleration is why I put him ahead of DH. DH's stiff arm is legendary and we will be discussing it decades from now just like the old folks do with Jim Brown. The 5 spot came between Newton and Tebow. Tebow clearly had a better college career and leadership ability the likes I have never seen before or since but Heisman is a one year award and Newton was undefeated and could beat you with his legs or arm and would let you choose. Maybe not as good of a man as Tebow, but he is and was a better qb.

1) Joe Burrow
2) Herschel Walker
3) Bo Jackson
4) Derrick Henry
5) Cam Newton
