You are basically ripping your own coach. Nicky said it's not safe, so we should believe him? There is ABSOLUTELY NO DATA to back this up. Leach threw that out to show how stupid Saban is for thinking the proposal is about player safety.

I am curious about this. What is the NCAA's reason to push this through?
The refs are having as much trouble keeping up with the HUNH as Alabama's corner backs.
The quick snap so no replay can be reviewed on controversial calls.

What is the NCAA angle?

Unfortunately, you haven't found an answer to the HUNH that doesn't include changing the rules to suit you.

Saban, if you're scared, just say you're scared.

No. I don't believe its is about safety either. Someone should put the numbers out there and everyone should get a vote.

I do want the team i follow to push the limits on all rules and regulations, constantly searching for new ways to gain an advantage. I don't care how slimy and sneaky other teams fans feel about how we obtained the advantage.

Posted by nc14 on 2/15 at 9:38 pm to Captain Rumbeard Yep you guys are way ahead of the curve. Only six loses in two years. Only two next year improves that to five in two years. I think we have found the model of success.

What's passed him by is the coaching strategy, not recruiting. That won't change until the REC money dries up.
There are hundreds of coaches in America who could have that record with the talent at UA. With the best recruiting classes in the country the last few years, he shouldn't lose more than a few games the next four years either.
For example, Jerry Kill was chosen as one of the best five coaches in the country. I'd LOVE to see what Kill's record would be at UA and Nicky's record would be at Minnesota with each other's players.
I'll give you guys all the props in the world for recruiting, but as of late with all that talent, Nicky has definitely been getting out coached on game days.
As long as he can keep recruiting like that however, UA will keep winning. There are many coaches better at Nicky than actual coaching, but none better at recruiting.

Saban's a pussy. He caused this problem for himself by building his team to beat LSU. Because we'd been kicking his arse. Miles knew he was going to have to not just beat Alabama but also West Virginia, Oregon, etc and Chief is more of the philosophy that speed kills. Saban likes beef and LSU's plodding offense made it an easy choice. Lord knows he wasn't going to schedule anybody other than cupcakes and second tier out of conference teams so he wasn't worried. He knew that if he could beat LSU then he could beat everyone else so that's how he built that team.

HUNH caught him flat footed and when he got his first taste of it he mistakenly attributed it to Cam Newton and not the scheme.

Now he's freaking out because he knows it will be another couple years before he can do anything about it so changing the rules is about it if he wants to keep on going to the big game.

And the tahhhhhd zombies swallow their pride, close their eyes to the obvious, and spew the slogans like good little drones.

Here in Minnesota, things take a lot longer than a second to melt.

He doesn't understand how to adapt to it so he wants to change the rules so he doesn't have to.

My two cents worth. Just as with the "spread", the "sun and gun" "the veer" and the "wishbone" the HUNH is not unstoppable. However, like the other offenses, it requires different types of defensive players and schemes than a defense against a pro set or an "I formation"

Now Saban does not have many years of coaching left. He knows that with the playoff system and general hatred of the SEC, he has to at least win his division and probably the SEC championship to get in the playoffs.

It will take 2-3 years to recruit the right type of players and he may be gone by then. So he decided to stoop (no pun intended) beneath himself and Alabama and change the rules. Kind of sad isn't it?

I totally understand it if he can get away with it, why not find out? But anybody that thinks this is about the reasons he's stating are either really stupid, or just in denial. You don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to realize what he's doing. Unfortunately, most bama fans are hammers, not knives.
