2000 Alabama football team quit on Mike Dubose

That implies they ever gave an initial effort.

2007 Bama football team. You felt it change when J.P. Wilson threw that pick six in State's endzone that was returned 100 yards. They would have beaten La Monroe and possibly even Auburn had that not happened.

Our players may have quit on Houston Nutt.

Of course he probably deserved it.

Johnny Jones has to be one of the worst coaches in the country. He's crapped away so much talent.

When one of your captains is skipping practice to go fishing, they definitely quit on you. That season was miserable.

2011 and 2012 UT football. Johnny Jones looks like the General or Bear compared to Dooley.

2012 with Joker. Fans boycotted Commonwealth to force his firing.

Wasn't there one more recent than that? I seem to recall the 2007 Alabama team fitting the theme pretty well. Started out 6-2 (with both losses close against good opponents), stomped Tennessee (eventual SEC East champion), ranked in the top 25. Then lost a tough game at home to LSU (eventual national champion) and just collapsed. Finished the regular season 6-6 on a 4-game losing streak, including at home to UL-Monroe. They did manage to win a nailbiter in a minor bowl game, but I don't see how that qualifies as bouncing back any more than LSU's 2015 football team did beating two high school teams to close out the season or any more than LSU's basketball team if it manages to squeak by Mizzou at home and/or win a game in the SEC Tournament.

No. That team had a few starters that were suspended by the NCAA the day before the UT game and were out until the Auburn game. That's why that that team fell apart.

Another good example, it gets overlooked because it was sorta later in the season. I would argue the disheartening loss to LSU was what made them start the process of throwing in the towel. And yes the pick 6 against MSU was officially that team's last effective play of the regular season.

Saban actually had them up for the bowl game at the end though.

When Hornsby got hurt it was over. he was the heart and soul and leader of the team. Still it is poor character on players that quit.

Other than Saban's 2007 year all the rest on just poor coaching or knowing coach is getting fired. That even happens in the NFL.

It just happens sometimes and you can usually lay the blame at the coach's feet.

I am not one to blame college players as they are still so young and immature, but I think there is enough to go around on this one.
