Interesting, so why do OM students and grads refer to OM as 'Harvard of the South'?

No one ever says that seriously. I don't know if anyone says that, period.

Many kids we know who can't get into LSU end up at OM as well. Just sayin...............

Regardless of academics, Ole Miss is fancy. Also no one says that in Oxford

I know several people who went to Ole Miss and miss St because they didn't get into LSU. I also know that if I didn't get into LSU law school I would be at Ole Miss.

Would just like to note that Ole Miss's acceptance rate dropped from 79% to 59% from 2011 to 2013. Ole Miss had 14,258 applicants in 2013.

State had 11,191
Auburn had 15,475
Bama had 30,975
Arkansas 18,908
LSU 16,169
A&M 31,387

Acceptance rates are literally the biggest joke in evaluating the quality of a school and do not illustrate the quality of students on a campus

UT still has that top 10 percent of your class bullshite, don't they? I don't know why that's still a thing with some schools. You have large magnet schools with better students in the 11-40 percentiles than the 1-10 percentile at high schools in fricksville, Texas.

That is kinda the point of the rule- geographic diversity.

If it wasn't for the rule then A&M and UT would just be composed of Houston and Dallas suburbs.

You miss out on a lot of premium students though.

I believe Texas has lowered it to top 8% now. I agree it's a flawed rule but there are so many people in Texas and moving to Texas that there has to be some type of capping system in place.

And they basically count twice when retention rates are used. The dumbfricks get bounced early.

A cousin of mine,half-hispanic, 4th in his class from a large San Antonio public HS, was admitted to Yale with a Sub-1300 SAT Score in the late 90s.

There is a massive quality gap between education received at Ole Miss and most other SEC schools. The accounting at OM is pretty good, everything else except for Pharmacy and maybe Finance are community college level academics

You're not even trying at this point.

What undergraduate programs outside of MIS and Internal Auditing program is LSU really known for outside the state of Louisiana? Its Engineering program, even PE, has always been ranked rather mediocre.

LSU and Ole Miss kind of have a lot alike in that its a place of 4-5 years of fun before a graduate/professional degree of some sort.

OM is still top notch academics. Entrance requirements have been lowered via Fed court rulings. But earning potential is the same.
