The scramble ability is what really puts it all over the top. You can defend a play perfectly for 5-7 seconds, do a decent job in gap control in your pass rush and it just doesn't matter. He runs for 25+ yards.

I'm in the minority of LSU fans on this, but I think Kelly would be interested in a portal QB this offseason. Nuss is by no means a statue, but I think Kelly really likes a dual threat type.

You're not wrong, but last season Daniels wasn't near the passer he is this season and LSU won the west.

LSU likely goes more run heavy in 2024 with an experienced OL and 3 quality TEs to run more 12 and 13 personnel which fits Denbrock's traditional scheme.

Nabers will be gone and most likely we lose Brian Thomas so we'll have less experience at WR. Nussmeier can sling it, but will be a new starter and has a tendency to be reckless with some of his throws.

Defense can only get better, but how aggressively does Kelly make changes? We'll see.

Find out what LSU looks like without Daniels next year.

We would probably be lucky to go bowling without him as defense maybe the worst in football

It looks very different. And I don't think there is much chance they beat Missouri this year without Daniels. Maybe Florida as well. Even Arkansas the way that game turned out. What a lot of people don't realize is that LSU's o-line is really solid and the RBs are pretty damn good. And Nussmeier is talented. So I think LSU would still have a pretty good offense, but obviously you take away a great player and its not going to be near as good.

Next year, they lose no one on the Oline and it should be the strength of the team. RBs will be good and the WRs will be talented, but, again, you lose a generational talent at QB and it has to take a step back. From a LSU perspective you have to assume the defense will be much better (it almost has to be), so you hope to make up a lot of the difference there. How it equates to wins and losses its hard to know. Plus with the transfer portal now, you have the ability to bring a lot of people in that can make a significant difference. Two years ago LSU hit it big in the portal, last year, it was mostly misses. It seems imperative they don't miss for next year.

Portal maybe more important than actual recruiting soon. Dart to Ole Miss, JD to LSU, the whole Colorado deal, etc.

Yes and no. Clearly his ability to scramble is phenomenal. But he had that last year, and was really good but not elite. What has made him the best QB in the country this year, that he didn't have last year, is his ability to go through his progressions and when he sees someone open let it rip. He has a really quick release and is very accurate with the ball. And now he has become much more likely to go to his second and third, even fourth, reads before running. Its made him almost impossible to defend.

Oh yea, totally agree. He's a fantastic passing QB, but even when you defend that (and the great WRs) well.....which is a very difficult task......he's liable to just skirt away for 20-30 yards anyway.

That's what makes it almost indefensible.

I don't think we disagree at all. I guess my point is what took him from really good to elite this year was the growth he has made in the pocket and his willingness to take the shots downfield that last year he wouldn't. Its just so sad that this growth was accompanied with the single worst LSU defense I've watched in my lifetime. .

Next year i think you’ll see Nuss throwing on the move

Of course our OL *should* be stout for the first time since like 2005

The line has been good the past two seasons. In 2019, it won the Joe Moore Award for being the best o-line in the country.

I knew someone would jump on that. They were good in ‘19 but Burrow made them look a lot better with his mad pocket skills and escapability.

They had three or four guys who are starters in the NFL on that line.

The HUGE difference is that Bama defense was good and stopped teams from scoring. When Bama got a lead , Bama could turn to the run game and the QBs did not have to do as much.

With LSU defense this year, Daniels has to lead the team to score a TD every drive basically. Who knows what the defense and/or special teams will do.

Nuss is very capable of leading LSU to points. He is not a game manager and will throw the ball more which could lead to more INTs. Daniels value is huge and that is mostly due to the defense sucking.

Not sure. I think we’d beat USF comfortably without him

Daniels needs to go to the Saints. The Saints ain't had a good player since Mark Ingram left.
