The two passes to Richardson on blown coverages, his big run in the fourth off a broken tackle that should've been stopped for a 3 yard gain or less
The run in the 4th came on a play where Downs and Ego were the two DTs in the game. I remember it because before the play I said "Oh shite, Downs and Ego are in at the same time." I doubt we see that pairing on the field together again.

Everyone was mad at him for that weird looking toss/pass that he had against Arky, the one that was almost picked. Well hell there was a 84.67% chance it was gonna be a huge play. That's just how he rolls.
Exactly. Love him or hate him. He wins. He's like a very poor man's tebow

First, there were missed tackles on several plays not including Trent.
Secondly, on his big run in the 4th Sam had him wrapped up and he slipped through his grasp. Great play by Trent, but these aren't 220lb LBers he broke tackles by on that play.
Hatcher whiffed on numerous plays and is getting less playing time as the season has progressed.
Richardson is a beast, but some of you act like he'll reproduce some of those runs again. It helps when LSU was playing our pass rushing DE the whole game while missing our stronger run stopping DE the entire game.

I will argue this with you ALL DAY. Go back and watch what Alabama did when they got to the 30
1st drive:
1st & 10 at 30: Richardson rush for loss of 5 yards.
2nd & 15 at 35: Pass to Smelley for 8 yards.
3rd & 7 at 27: Pass to Richardson for no gain.
2nd drive:
1st & 10 at 23: 5 yard substitution penalty.
1st & 15 at 28: Lacy rush for 1 yard.
2nd & 14 at 27: Lacy rush for loss of 6 yards.
3rd & 20 at 33: Incomplete pass to Bell.
3rd drive:
1st & 10 at 24: Maze rush for loss of 6 yards.
2nd & 16 at 30: McCarron sacked by Montgomery for loss of 1 yard.
3rd & 17 at 31: Incomplete pass.
4th drive:
1st & 10 at 19: Pass complete to Williams for 1 yard.
2nd & 9 at 18: Lacy rush for 1 yard.
3rd & 8 at 17: Incomplete pass to Hanks.
8th drive:
1st & 10 at 28: Maze intercepted by Reid.
OT drive:
1st & 10 at 25: Incomplete pass to Richardson.
2nd & 10 at 25: 5 yard substitution penalty.
2nd & 15 at 30: Incomplete pass to Richardson.
3rd & 15 at 30: McCarron sacked by Montgomery loss of 5 yards.
Two penalties in 6 possessions. One, maybe two bad play calls.

Actually it could. This time around hatchet likely won't be at the first point of attack. Minter is solid at wrapping up, and will limit the broken tackles at MLB.
He'll still get his. In the first quarter there was a run that he got maybe six yards on. Minter made first contact at about 2 yards, stood him up and stopped him cold. Then TR just started going again. Eric Reid then made the tackle a few yards later with another good pop. It was pretty impressive. We hit him hard, a lot, especially Eric Reid, but you didn't really see a big effect until overtime.

Have you ever seen a team be in field goal range and get knocked out of it that many times in 1 game? Most of those were horrific play calls for where they were on the field. Maze fell the frick down. It was a shite show.

Huh? Trent fricks shite up. He'll break tackles in almost every game he ever plays in for the rest of his life.

This drive also included Bama having to call a time out just before the 50yd try because the TE wasn't on the field. Same TE that Reid wrestled the ball away from. I bet he wore it in film sessions on Monday.

I am thinking that both teams will have plenty of preparation time to make adjustments, but Bama still does not have a great kicking game. The special teams play was a big factor in that game, and LSU seems to have the edge there. I am wondering and wanting Bama fans to tell me what changes or adjustments can they make to improve their special teams performances in the January game?

Don't kick 75 yard field goals. Well there ya go. How many punts did Alabama's punter shank? Don't kick field goals too long for your kicker and the special teams difference isn't as big of a deal. Alabama's offense was too good for Wing to flip field position.

Outside of the substitution penalty, the only one you have a legit beef on is the reverse where Maze stumbled. That's it. The other 3 were extremely good defensive plays. Of course, it's obvious you refuse to give LSU any credit for that.

Maze fell down on a play that wasn't going anywhere, but I counted it as a possible bad playcall anyway. Obviously the Maze pass was terrible. As for the rest, that is exactly what makes the LSU defense so tough. They penetrate, hit you for negative plays, sacks, force turnovers, etc. I seriously doubt you were calling those Richardson and Lacy runs horrific playcalls when they worked against everyone else on the schedule or when they worked earlier in some of those drives.
Thats just what LSU does. You have a better chance of picking up first downs against them than you do against the great Alabama defense. But the LSU defense is more likely to make game changing plays, imo.

They were awesome plays. LSUs D is fast and aggressive. That means don't run Lacey to the sideline when a loss means no field goal. Don't see if Trent can get to the corner when a loss means no field goal. Don't throw an INT with a WR that close to getting points. Stupid shite. Great plays by LSU. Horrible play calls by Alabama.
Posted on 12/11/11 at 7:47 pm to MOT
LSU is fast as hell yes. That's why Lacey doesn't need to race them to the edge when any loss in yards means no points.

Most of those plays that you are complaining about happened on 1st down, not 3rd. Yet in most cases, Bama couldn't do jack after those plays, so you assume that other play calls would've been different.
LSU is notorious for giving up yards in between the 20's and the shutting teams down at or inside the redzone. It held true in that game just as usual. LSU did the same thing all game with horrible play calling and forcing it up the middle. LSU got into BAMA territory multiple times only to shoot themselves in the foot too. JJ went the wrong way on an option play on first down and cost us yards. It happens.

Didn't Lacy have a long run off the edge to set up one of those drives inside the 30?

I wish Alabama would have done this when they got down there. Alabama's line can handle LSU's. At least early in the game.

His long run was off the right tackle. Then he busted it up the middle.

I don't think there's one guy in the NFL who would catch that pass 4 out of 10 times. It was almost uncatchable.

Oh really? They weren't handling them that great to begin the game if I recall. Richardson was breaking some tackles to get his yards. Bama's line is very good, but the DT's were holding their own in that game.
