Question for Georgia season ticket holders/attenders

Lets say that you had a crystal ball and could see that if Bama made the SECCG, theyd win...and then force down Georgia into the 5 seed with a home field first round game against a team that Georgia will overmatch.
If you could push a button and make this happen as opposed to going to face Bama or A&M in Atlanta where youd 100% get bye regardless of outcome, would you push it? Not to avoid the loss but purely from a fan perspective of getting another home game to attend

Yes. Yes. Yes, etc. We lost our starting QB last year in the SECCG. For most of us the SECCG doesn't help and may hurt you. You will find some that want to play in the SECCG, some even say it's better than the NC. (Don't ask. We just have some foolish fans.).

Weren’t the host teams undefeated in the 1st and 2nd round last year?
I definitely still want to win an SECCG but the current structure is doing everything they can possibly do to devalue those games including not ruling out bumping out teams that lose a game.
In fact from a wear and tear standpoint you could easily argue that it negates much of the value proposition related to securing a first round bye by forcing you to play a top 4 level team that really provides you no tangible benefit from a CFP standpoint.

Id actually love for Bama to win the SEC(obviously) but the committee "shaft" Bama with a 1st round game instead of a bye.
That logic I think is the best for Georgia and IMO would set up their playoff path better anyways

100%
I'd love to have a home game against Tulane as the 5 seed instead of playing Bama in the title game.

Yes. 100% rather have the bye and face Tulane at home.
Look at what OSU did last year. If you get hot at the right time, it's all about avoiding injuries and not playing in unnecessary games.

Cannot imagine a being a real Georgia football fan choosing the "I would like less Georgia football, please" option. Winning the SEC championship in the first 2 years of the 16 team era would be satisfying. Never know when that would happen again. It was hard enough in the 12 and 14 team era. This will never get old....

Youd be getting same amount...with a game in Athens as opposed to Atlanta

Sadly the SEC title importance is going the way of basketball conference championships. Nothing matters but the tournament. I doubt Florida spent a second thinking about losing the SEC title while cutting down those natty nets.
SECCG atmosphere used to be unrivaled. Was surprised last year how noticeably different it was with both teams guaranteed playoff spots.
Considering conference title games as postseason games, the loser would have to play one more game than everyone else to win the natty. Winner gets a bye. Loser plays first round. Not great.

And the game would be over at halftime, and it wouldn't be for a trophy.

I'd rather play for an SEC championship than have a home playoff game.

People really need to stop trying to wish this into existance. 2 million people watched the basketball championship game last March. 16 million people watched the football championship game last December.

Kirby stated that: "It is out of our hands. We will accept the challenge of playing in the SEC championship game without hesitation."
With the schedule that Georgia had last season, with no thanks to Sankey, Kirby didn't expect to get to Atlanta.
Kirby often says stuff like: "You come to Georgia to play in big time games."

Well everyone has their limitations. Fortunately most aren't as debilitating nor accompanied with the delusions of grandeur as in your case.

What, you'd rather Bama beat us again in the SEC title game over watching a home playoff game in Sanford with us kick the shite out of a 12 seed?

I am biased because one of the most fun nights of my life was in Athens in pouring rain after Bama game there. Even missing out on SECCG, if I was say a mid-late 20s Georgia grad, going to a home playoff game would easily trump another game in Atlanta which Georgia has already seen plenty of.
