Was the ultra conservative play calling we saw from Bama on Nov 5th really all that different from their normal offense, or was this just who Bama really is
I actually thought LSU was way more ultra-conservative than Bama in that game. I was surprised that LSU didn't try to attack Alabama's secondary more especially with the way they were having trouble moving the ball. As for Alabama, that's their normal offense. It's been their normal offense since Jim McElwain has been our offensive coordinator. I didn't have any problems with the conservative playcalling. Our receivers are really mediocre, LSU's secondary is really good, and McCarron can be inconsistent, inaccurate, and turnover prone at time. I had a much bigger problem with the playcalling when Alabama was in LSU's territory. Running a stretch play against a defense as fast as LSU on second and long and having Marquis Maze throw the ball to Michael Williams after a big run by Trent Richardson was just plain idiotic. Playcalling like that is why I won't miss McElwain one bit.

I think McElwain with McCarron is like Stud with JJ. Don't open it up too much because either team can only be beat if they turn it over too much. I know there were 2 picks each, but those picks make the coaches turtle up I think. Looked like both teams were playing not to lose on 11/5.

Honestly, we do what we do. Miles knows it too. That's why Les has out coached us almost every year. Saban wants to win his way...Les will do whatever it takes to win. If we don't add new wrinkles, we'll lose by double digits. If we execute well it'll be a long night for LSU.

The big difference between Coach Stud and McElwain is that this year's LSU team has been very good scoring TDs in the red zone while Alabama under McElwain has done a poor job scoring TDs while in the red zone. I would take Coach Stud over McElwain as Alabama's OC every day of the week.

LSU depth is a total illusion. We're at least as deep as you are.
Your team was dragging arse at the end of the game and in the OT. Depth in the OT was a big reason Michael Ford was able to run around and past your defense for what sealed the game.
If your depth is so good, why leave Maze in to watch punts sail over his head? Why did you not put in one of those blue chippers when Maze got hurt? A fresher, healthier guy on the depth chart may have fielded that punt that wound up going 73 yards.

You don't win rivals #1 3 of 4 years without serious depth.
Rivals is a gump joke, our Walter Camp and Bednarik all american defensive backs were both 3 stars, Mr 5 star Dre can't cover for shite. LSU recruits great talent. We are deep, we already beat you at BDS when you shite the bed at home.
DEAL WITH IT

I find it funny that some Bama fans on YouTube and on here say,"LSU couldn't even score 1 td against our def". As if they did

I agree with everything but this. McElwain had to get his plays approved by Saban. Ultimately, Saban would choose the play that we would run most of the time. McElwain has done a great job IMO and you're an idiot if you think we won't miss him. Our next OC will only succeed if he fits Saban's style. The only reason McElwain lasted is because he didn't try to butt heads with Saban, which is why Applewhite only lasted 1 year.

was this just who Bama really is? Basically, try and get TR the ball and hope he makes something happen individually.
Yeah, thats our entire offense...

hand it to Trent or dump it off to him, that's about 95% of the playbook

Why would you consider this fear, seems more like confidence to me.
I would agree. Bama's gameplan was beyond stupid. Saban was a complete idiot thinking he could run on and wear down a Dline that goes 8 deep and rotates more than any team in the SEC.
I remember my gump buddy was texting me saying LSU would wear down. I specifically remember calling him a complete idiot over and over during the game for saying this. I posted on the game thread here several times early on that bama's game plan was complete shite and they needed to start throwing some on first down or they would lose. Saban was a dumbass on Nov 5th and showed again he is not much of a in game coach.

Miles is far and away a much better in game coach.

Yeah, those 9 defensive linemen, 5 linebackers, 7 defensive backs, 4 tailbacks, 2 fullbacks, and 3 tight ends that all receive extensive playing time are just a figment of our imagination.
