You are missing the point. It is not how big your media markets are, it is how many potential cable subscribers are in your state. Which as shown above, is low compared to potential targets in North Carolina or Virginia. The NBA's stamp of approval has nothing to do with it.
I wouldn't mind OU, don't want Okie State. SEC won't get much with OU in the SEC and Okie State in another conference because of Oklahoma's population. I believe someone posted you get like 90 cents per subscriber with only ONE team from a major conference in that state. Get half of that with a team in the SEC and other schools in that state in another conference. That's why Texas A&M is still bringing a lot to the SEC compared to Mizzou because of the population of Texas, bigger markets.
Mizzou was picked over WVU or other schools out east because the SEC gets the full amount each subscriber instead of 3/4 or 1/2.
People get mad because it's about MONEY, there's a reason why the SEC's TV deal sucks even though we've dominated college football. Have to expand your footprint, geography to NEW areas. It's a damn shame that the BIG and PAC 12 have a network and the SEC couldn't get one until they added lil Ol Mizzou and TAMU, can't go on football power alone when it comes to MONEY and TV deals.

What area. I've been here since 98' love it. I'm in the Joplin area. Not much to do but KC, Tulsa, and STL aren't far away. Plus low crime rate here, good schools, etc.

West is a gauntlet, East is a cakewalk.

I love how the A&M fans think they're such hot shite compared to the Big XII teams now that they are in the SEC. Y'all ran away from Texas

I wouldn't call it running away, they did the same thing Colorado and Nebraska did, not let ONE school screw them and control the conference.

That is like saying the State of Louisiana ran away from prosperity.

Delete Duke/NC/Oklahoma and add Virginia or Va Tech and NC State to the East, shift Missouri to the west.

Can't tell if you're serious or trolling.
Go do some research, big guy.

West is football; East is Basketball?

If the SEC added NC and Va Tech you could do:
NW:
Alabama (Tenn)
Auburn (UGA)
Missouri (Arkansas)
MSU (Ole Miss)
SW:
LSU (Florida)
A&M (Va Tech)
Arkansas (Missouri)
Ole Miss (MSU)
NE:
Tennessee (Alabama)
Va Tech (A&M)
NC (USC)
Vanderbilt (KY)
SE:
Florida (LSU)
UGA (Auburn)
USC (NC)
Kentucky (Vandy)
And these proposed pods with LSU, A&M, Missouri, and Arkansas together are terrible. That division would be a Big 12/SWC conference more than a SEC conference. Plus, they aren't as balanced when it comes to pairing out of division permanent opponents.
Simply moving Ole Miss into the division instead of Missouri:
1) balances the strength of all four divisions (putting one of the worst teams in each of the four divisions instead of loading one division with two)
2) keeps the LSU/Ole Miss game in the same division
3) keeps the LSU/Florida game (a game of national interest)
4) gives MSU/Ole Miss a relevant permanent out of division opponent of appropriate strength and
5) allows you to pair Mizzou/Arky as out of division opponents

Great. Whooptee fricking do.
The reason I mentioned OU's winning tradition is because it makes Oklahoma a national brand. If you think OU wouldn't draw more eyeballs to another conference, you're wrong.

Enjoy a decade of irrelevance in the Big 12.
You would know ALL about that, wouldn't you?

No kidding, good lord.
Aggies are the most vocal against Oklahoma joining the SEC because they know, deep down, that they can't compete with Oklahoma when they are in the same conference.
