Those claims WERE bogus back in the SWC or Big 12.

The SEC obviously has a different standard for counting national titles (thanks Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee) that we are now emulating.

This link would seem to disprove that though:

That is is random website that you quoted I won't go by.

If cfbdatawarehouse was some solid SEC Rant standard I would stick to it, like 247 for recruiting. But its not.

The day you can get all Rant Arky fans to admit that our program is better than theirs because of that website is the day I believe LSU was ten spots better in 1999.

Auburn fans love to use that site too, even though it says that we're a better program all-time.

Aw hell I don't care. Let's just say that at least 10 SEC schools rank in the Top 30-35 all-time, and 5 of the Top 13.

Hey, we won't complain. It drives Texas fans nuts so its worth it for the local flavor.

I like the idea of being able to rank teams all time on something other than pure wins, I just think that site isn't anywhere near perfect.

To be clear- the exact ranking doesn't matter today or in 1999. LSU is a better program now, and no one will dispute that. Heck we maybe lost ground for a decade while they moved forward, good for them.

The key point, that I am SURE a Florida fan who isn't defensive can appreciate, is sometimes the only difference between a top 10 program and a top 25 program is a single coach.

Would FSU be in the title hunt last year without Bowden? No way! Without his titles, Jimbo doesn't recruit at an elite level and they are a Clemson.

Coaching matters, maybe now more than ever. If I had to chose, I would rather be a fan of a program like ours that is currently a better JOB than a program like Nebraska that has a better HISTORY.

No doubt about coaching, I doubt we'd be top 25 all-time without Spurrier.

LSU and Oklahoma are also the only two schools to have a winning season and go to a bowl game every year since 2000.
Miles is one of the top 3 winningest coaches since 2005.
LSU has not been ranked in only 4 weekly polls since 2005.
LSU is enjoying it's greatest decade of football in program history. I hope Les never leaves Death Valley.

And yet yall have the setup-recruiting base, money, conference, alumni base, etc- of a top 5 program. Spurrier or not, yall have the setup. Bear even saw it!

That is kinda why I don't like to judge programs by their history. Maybe its because I am an A&M fan, but when I look at the landscape of "historical" programs I see a lot of places that only got good because the entire state lacked an NFL team so everyone rallied behind "the team" to have some sort of state pride. Some of these programs still are good today because they also had a good setup (like a Bama) but some- namely Nebraska, Tennessee, Michigan, etc. - have a rough future ahead of reconciling history with what currently would be reasonable expectations for that program.

I would much rather be an A&M fan than a Nebraska or Michigan fan that no longer has the momentum to "cheat the system" by recruiting above and beyond what is their natural talent base.

You can't be us Bro. We were a ten spot better prior to 2000 and we are eleven spots better now. As much as you want to be LSU you just can't be.

And the gap continues to grow. LSU beat you down in 2011. LSU beat you down in 2012. And LSU beat you down in 2013. The pain has made you covetous. I understand it, you have Aggie Stockholm Syndrome, your pain and confusion has been replaced with an unnerving admiration and a confusion that you are us. But, you just aren't.

You are Aggie. 20th best program ever. Better get that straight before a Cheerboy slaps you with his glove for insubordination.

Thread over.

So you also think that LSU is better all-time than Tennessee?

My comment had to do with the Aggie fan running his mouth. It concerned A&M. I know Tennessee is ranked ahead of LSU historically.

It's just funny to see the CFDW rankings brought up because I got KILLED for saying that we were ahead of Auburn in the Big 6.

The website disagrees!

Good job on your useless double standard.

Considering LSU football didn't exist before 2000.

I've always wondered how LSU fans could justify dismissing Charlie McClendon and everything he accomplished at LSU like that.
