It's a pretty universal story, but it's because that's what it's like when a relationship deteriorates and you enter a new one. The bitterness isn't there anymore.
The new girl is always more fun.
But there are reasons why a relationship deteriorates. Mullen's weren't the standard order ones. He just didn't care.

Mullen was done in by:
(1) lack of focus in recruiting
(2) inexplicable refusal to put best players on the field
While Napier is definitely much more focused on recruiting I can't help but wonder if zeroing on Mertz as his portal QB this year won't prove to be a big misstep.

What’s the backstory on how Napier chose to focus on Mertz vs. all the other guys in the portal? There was a ton of movement by QBs in the offseason
