1959 Louisiana State, finished #3
1964 Mississippi, finished unranked because the AP for a short period only did 10 teams at the end of the season.

I think a lot of those 1960s "unranked" were because the AP poll only went top 10 during that time.

Alabama gets an extra chance no matter what happens. They are good but they have a lot going for them. ( Sec and ESPN).
