Pro Football Focus categorizes a "deep throw" as throws 20 yards or more downfield (all numbers according to PFF stats).
Sorted by NFL Passer Rating
1. Joe Milton - 134.0 (14-29 | 8 TD | 0 INT)
2. Jayden Daniels - 124.7 (16-42 | 5 TD | 0 INT)
3. Devin Leary - 110.2 (9-29 | 4 TD | 0 INT)
4. Will Rogers - 108.3 (17-40 | 9 TD | 2 INT)
4. KJ Jefferson - 108.3 (17-40 | 8 TD | 2 INT)
6. Payton Thorne - 104.6 (25-61 | 9 TD | 3 INT)
7. Conner Weigman - 103.1 (5-16 | 2 TD | 0 INT)
8. Tyler Buchner - 97.1 (5-15 | 1 TD | 0 INT)
9. Jaxson Dart - 95.8 (24-66 | 6 TD | 3 INT)
10. Graham Mertz - 93.6 (22-53 | 9 TD | 4 INT)
11. Spencer Rattler - 90.9 (26-59 | 7 TD | 7 INT)
11. Brady Cook - 90.9 (19-59 | 3 TD | 1 INT)
13. AJ Swann - 65.7 (6-29 | 2 TD | 1 INT)
Players with 5 deep throw attempts or fewer:
Carson Beck - 108.3 (1-3 | 1 TD | 0 INT)
Jalen Milroe - 0.0 (0-5 | 0 TD | 3 INT)
Joe Milton's 134.0 passer rating was the highest by a power 5 QB (at least 20 deep throws) last year. 35% of his total attempts were 20+ yards. Sustaining that efficiency will be difficult.
Spencer Rattler was one of the more accurate power 5 QBs on deep throws (44%, 11th), but when he missed, it went to the other team.
Graham Mertz had a 94.3 PFF grade on deep throws, which was 4th in power 5.

Carson Beck, as a backup, doesn't have a lot of numbers.
Here's a youtube link about 11 minutes long of every passing or QB scramble of 2022.
So for anyone interested in an eye test, this is an honest video. It's not highlights, it's every snap where he passes or runs. The good and the bad.

And people doubt Milton after his bowl game performance to add to these numbers. He's not the same QB that first enrolled at Tennessee. Has had two years under Heupel backing up what really was a Heisman candidate QB in Hooker.
It's funny to see UGA and Bama's new QBs as the leading dinker and dunkers of the league.

Because you have a pass happy offense, no surprise the passing numbers are higher.

That kid wouldn’t start at 10 SEC schools this season, 12 if you include Oklahoma and Texas.

Milroe is not going to win the starting job if he can’t learn to throw it deep and away from harm. Didn’t show improvement in spring either.

Check their over 20 yard attempts and completion numbers. Yikes. We won't have to worry about them going over the top that much. Makes it much easier to game plan against QS like that. QBs that are too scared to or just can't stretch the field consistently.

I'd be curious to see it broken down by opponent.

As would we all. Are you down or up while throwing 50-yard bombs against 3rd string defenses against south east bum fuct U.

Well yeah. He’ll be playing at the beginning of games and not the end against backups in blowouts

Milton throws a hell of a deep ball and his accuracy has greatly improved. You guys must really have his first season when he was new under Heupel over throwing it left and right still imprinted into your minds.

While they may not count as deep passes, that link showed a lot of middle distance passes on ropes to recievers. What's odd is that even though most were caught, many probably should have been but the fact it was guys way down the depth chart caused them to be dropped. I only saw a couple of bad throws in that link.

Lol. That kid had a 74% completion percentage, 186 passer rating and had half of his pass attempts against top 25 opponents.
I think he's going to either be first or second team all-SEC this season. Throws passes accurately where only his guy can catch them and unlike last year where he was throwing to second and third string guys, he'll be passing it to Brock Bowers, Dom Lovett and Ladd McConkey this season.

How is 16-42 (Daniels) better than 17-40 (Jefferson and Rogers) Especially with less TDs?

You said the same about Stetson
Remind me again what all he accomplished?

I could be wrong, but it appears they are showing deep throw efficiency stats, but sorting by NFL passer rating which encompasses other things.

It's due the NFL Passer Rating formula (NFL Passer Rating calculator: LINK)
KJ: 17-40, 641 yards, 8 TD, 2 Int
Rogers: 17-40, 541 yards, 9 TD, 2 Int
Daniels: 16-42, 517 yards, 5 TD, 0 Int
For what it is worth, the PFF deep ball grades favor KJ and Rogers.
KJ: 91.6 grade
Rogers: 91.3 grade
Daniels: 85.9 grade
PFF grades are a bit subjective, which some take offense to.
