I remember hearing "Aggie" jokes as if they were interchangeable with the "retard" jokes all the time while growing up (this was the non-pc 70s/80s so get triggered, whatever). I remember thinking that clearly there was something wrong with Aggies and couldn't fathom why somebody would want to identify as such.
Now that I'm older and know more about their ways I do believe my understanding as a child was justified.

I grew up in College Station laughing at Aggy jokes as well.

Both my parents went to Arkansas. Growing up in the 80s all I heard were Aggie jokes.

Aggy is a prestigious institution of higher learning, they do not accept everybody, their enrollment of 60k+ proves how selective they are.
