Seriously?

It's really not that cold here. You'd be surprised how easy winter becomes for Southerners.
I mean, as I said earlier, you can find pics of anywhere that look nice. It's just a different kind of environment.

I used to live in Frederick MD and I thought it was too cold and it was real windy too. State College has to be even worse.
The location of it doesn't make much sense. How did it end up way up the mountains like that?

The worst part about SC during the winter is that the sun never shines. We don't get a terrible amount of snow- nowhere near Wisconsin or Michigan. The problem is that it's just consistently cold. It rarely drops below the 20s, but never gets above 30. I'm honestly a fan of the consistency as opposed to the out of control temperatures in Southern winters

Land grant. We're essentially the same as Texas A&M. They just plopped us in the most logical place as 90% of the state lives on the Western or Eastern border. We're only 10 miles from the geographic center of PA

Then you haven't seen the areas along Highland Road in Baton Rouge where a lot of the State Reps, judges,
physicans, and football coaches live

Those things are not 'McMansions', they are fricking villas....

I just noticed that an interstate goes right by it so it is easier to get to than I thought. I knew there wasn't an interstate from harrisburg up to SC.
clemson is a land grant but in far western corner of state. it looks like a farmer donated land up there for the college.

I-99 is a relatively new development. From what I hear, it used to be terrible to get to.
The road from Harrisburg is now a 4 lane expressway too, until you hit Centre Hall which is about 10 miles east. Then it becomes an expressway again right outside of SC.
It was once all two lane roads getting here though

Sigh. You got me to google. Looks like new construction based on like 20 seconds with Google images. This is exactly the point I'm making.

You know nothing of nothing. Baton Rouge was home to one of the most famous Southern Architects post civil war. A. Hays Town. LINK

Undergrad (most of it):
I really hope that BRAF and the rest of BR can get the lakes looking like what they plan. That will be gorgeous and if they relocate the zoo to the city park golf course and the mid-city redevelopment happens like it is planned that neighborhood will be gorgeous and an awesome place to live but we need culture not culcha to come in.
Not BR but one of my favorite things to do while I was BR.
Undergrad (some summer courses)
Grad school:
Med School:
Mullet Bay beach just a 3 minute walk from my apartment. It just to be a badass resort with golf course that was on the PGA tour until the hurricane in '98 and now it is horrible, but the company that owns Starz City Casino (formerly Atlantis world casino) just bought the golf course and they plan on bringing it back.
Med school before Devry bought it and expanded it
No after pics on google yet since they are just now finishing but here is the pic of the room that I am currently attempting to study in right now.
can't study because I am attempting to plan either a kayak trip to pineal island
or a scuba diving trip to Saba island for the weekend, but my arsehole friends can't make up their mind.
Saba
ETA: check out Platinum Room SXM and/or Bada Bing for NSFW pics.

there are worse things than living in a 'McMansion'. sounds like a pretty good problem to have. lol

I see. So there are no decades-old homes owned by old-guard Baton Rouge families from oil money. None.
The new constructions are the only homes in BR.
K.
I am totally at a fricking loss as to why it is so damned important to you that Baton Rouge NOT have old school mansions and estates owned for literally decades if not centuries by families that have been in Louisiana and Baton Rouge since the early 1800s.....
Do you think that just because YOU think it, that Rod Serling from the Twilight Zone came along and made them all disappear ??????????????????

I already gave him a huge boom. The Hays town homes in BR can rival any throughout the south

Seems cool; I'm glad yall have that. I assumed something along those lines existed. Note that I was laughing solely at you listing a mall and some new construction as particularly attractive aspects of Baton Rouge--things that exist basically everywhere (for better or worse).
