The simple fix (which isn't so simple) is to enforce the existing rules
There are always ways around rules.
If you start regulating collectives, then they will be restructured through marketing companies. Boom. No longer collectives.
Trying to get your hands around NIL is like trying to get your hands around the water coming out of a sink. It isn't going to work.

Can you please link. The only ruling I know is SCOTUS prohibited schools from limiting the amount of money a kid can receive for educational benefits.

Mike Leach had the best solution when they asked him about it during SEC media days.

Unionizing more so than HR.

You're a gentleman and a scholar, OP.
I wish I had more upvotes to give!

If a player accepts money, they should be required to play the bowl game or pay back a portion

The supreme court decision basically invalidates all of these.
If you want to control players you need them to sign a contract. Which likely means you need to pay them.

LOL. Riiight. Nick Saban was bragging about the money Bryce Young got before he ever took a snap at Bama.

Please link the case you are referring to. The last SCOTUS case involving college athletics said the NCAA could restrict the amount of money for an athlete for education expenses. It did not rule on NIL. So I am not sure what ruling you are referring to.

Actually Young played in 7 games in 2020. He did not start until 2021.
You also seem to be clueless as well. You responded to a poster who said Young wasn't paid NIL to come to Alabama. Which is true as Saban said Young received his NIL money in 2021 a year after he arrived at UA and had already played. Some of you need to research maybe first before posting.

You're right, those 156 yards and 1 TD in 2020 was absolutely worth a million dollars in NIL money.
Well, whether it was NIL money or bagman money, Young absolutely got paid to go to Alabama. You know that.

3. Teams need to have an NIL "salary cap." Don't know what that number is but there needs to be a cap. For those who say it's anti free market. . .NFL has salary caps to protect the teams and owners. We need NIL caps to protect schools and boosters
It blows my mind how people still can't distinguish the difference between salary and endorsements.
Yes. The NFL has a salary cap.
No. The salary cap has nothing to do with endorsements.
There already is a salary cap in college football. It's set at zero dollars and zero cents.

Because there's nothing to rule on. The NCAA has nothing to do with NIL money.
You might as well be talking about the price of oil.

They do in the fact it can not be used to entice a HS recruit to sign with a program. And currently SCOTUS has nothing to do with NIL as they have yet to rule on it.
Thanks for the link.

Possible Fixes for NIL Craziness.
We have NIL because the NCAA, and smaller colleges, were so aggrieved by $100 handshakes, free apartments, and a new car on signing day for the top players. And so, by their fix, we got this.
Try to fix this, and what comes next will be unforeseen - but even worse. Leave it alone for a couple years though, and it'll settle out to something sustainable. Because it has to either becomes sustainable - or die out.
That's the problem. Too many people trying to "fix" the free will of those wanting to give away money, and those wanting to take it.

Oh boy. Another “It’s a free country” nut. Look around…there are rules EVERYWHERE. In a free country you have to have some rules for civilized society to function

How long till we hear about a big NIL winner, blowing it all and not having anything left for the tax man?
