Yes and I don’t think players should be able to transfer to teams either on their schedule the following year, or inner conference.

I mean.. I’m sure a lot of these players are like…

For an extra 200k I’ll give you their playbook.

So much easier to imagine how a portal can look in your system.

Players will go where the money is.

Example... a portal target gets a offer from a school that's never finished a season inside the Top 15 and an offer from a Top 5 program. He's going to follow the money.... period.

This is already happening...and courts will still strike any restrictions on players.

The only things that the courts have struck down are related to preventing players from making money.

If the organization becomes professional the entire calculus changes. It comes with more stupidity like collective bargaining, but you can enforce contracts because they're actual legal agreements.

One of two things happens: college football becomes a professional league or it collapses due to necrosis.

I’m thrilled with how the portal is turning out so far for A&M. Some Ags with money must have stepped up in a very big way.

It sounds super simple. But of the top 10 ranked transfer portal classes from last season, 4 had losing seasons and failed to even make a bowl game

Which is why portal rankings are more pointless than high school recruiting rankings. It’s impossible to project.

He ran the Senior Bowl down here in Mobile. I thought he did a great job. Kinda perfect for the role he has now.

I agree rankings both recruit and portal have their flaws. They still work mostly but you will have players who just don’t cut it and bust (Jackson Arnold is one).

My main point is HS recruits only have HS tape. They have taken 0 college snaps. So its a bigger leap in what they can do in college.

The portal is closer to reality than HS. Players have actually played college teams so its easier for fans to look at tape and imagine how they can fit on their team and plug holes in roster. As fans we know the shortcomings of our players and can envision a portal player in that spot since they have college tape.

So at end of season we know all our deficiencies and can start to see where a portal pickup can improve that spot. They still have to learn the schemes and put forth the effort. But its a lot easier to see how they can help which makes it funner to me.

HS/recruiting is all about potential where portal is about fit.

I rarely play grammar police, but "funner" has always been a trigger for me!

And besides that... the portal isn't funner than recruiting... it's worser.
